TESC and Unisa have entered into an arrangement in which TESC can market Unisa's courses, and in return TESC will help Unisa (who is currently seeking DETC accreditation) to refine their distance education methodologies. More information can be found in TESC's press release, at http://www.tesc.edu/aboutus/newsroom/newsdetails.php?NewsID=71 .

    Mark:

Very interesting article, an arrangement which will no doubt be of benefit to both TESC and Unisa. The legitimate South African residential institutions, which also offer distance learning programs, are becoming more recognized as solid options for the DL student. Bears' Guide (14th Ed) highlights several of these programs.

Potchefstroom University (www.puk.ac.za), where I am enrolled in a Ph.D. program, is about the same age as Unisa (both over 100 years old, both with established residential programs, and both well recognized, although Unisa does have a greater student body).
