Please help me with my decision. I have an accredited MBA and would like to study por PhD in Business or Law.
    1. I am confused between NCU and Touro. Which is the best ? Is northcentral anough to be seriousely evaluated in the futrure ? Will the academic world take me seriously or treat me as one as studied in a very low quality school ?
    2. I saw that accredited PhD can be earned very cheap (less than 1,000 $ a year) at South Africa in two years (not UNISA) by DL. What do you think of that ?
    3. Is a degree like DBA or D.Tech valuated enough ?

Thank you so much for your answer.

You're quite close regarding the cost although you haven't said to which school you're referring so it's hard to verify absolutely. This is about the cost of my program. Based on my knowledge of SA doctoral programs (which is not exhaustive) I would say however, that you will not really be able to complete the process in two years, even if you are a full-time student. Has it ever been done? Probably, but unless you are absolutely prepared to bust your butt, are already quite prepared (topic in hand, etc.), and are extremely self-disciplined and organized, I would say the odds are against it. Don't be discouraged by this though. SA degrees are a great option for some. To be entirely honest though I'd have to say that any of the US schools will beat an SA degree, in general, when it comes to utility. One exception could be if there was some sort of "international" flavor to your dissertation topic. In any case, good luck.

I personally think that the NCU, Touro, and South African doctorates are worthless in most circumstances. But each of us has different needs/desires, and it's possible that one of these may meet yours.

In general, NO. But in specific cases, perhaps.

What do you hope to get out of a PhD program?

You might also add Herriot Watt's DBA program in that list

IMHO this seems a bit harsh but I'd be interested in seeing you expand a bit on your thoughts.

I asked the same question earlier, but have not received a response. I do know there are NCU and Touro students on this forum; hopefully, they'll find time to respond. I wouldn't consider a
SA school if I had an American option, simply because I believe this choice would be questioned. Touro seems to have an edge because of their tie to a B&M school, but both are accredited.

UNISA is a good option if you want to pursue a doctor of business leadership degree. But be prepared to work. They expect a proposal of at least 100 pages followed by a dissertation of 350 pages. On a part time basis this will take you approximately 5 years to complete......and yes the tuition is very reasonable. :)

A PhD from Touro, UNISA or NCU can be quite useful for a professor with many years of teaching and industrial experience that just needs an accredited doctorate to satisfy the PhD requirement for tenure jobs and research positions. If the individual has a proven record, then the name of the school wouldn't be an issue. How many can reallly tell the difference between Touro or University of Idaho in the real world?.

PHD from any RA school should be valuable.
