Any Title IV Schools?

I enrolled in the Northcentral PhD program with the understanding that they were not a Title IV school, which meant they did not participate in federal school loan programs, but offered a Sallie Mae loan program. Now I find out that it also means I cannot get a deferment on my previous Federally subsidized school loans. I intended to take the payments I'd normally make and apply them towards tuition, with a deferment.
The NCU website directs you to obtain the deferment form from your lender, but my lender tells me I'm out of luck if they aren't Title IV. I can't afford both tuition and loan payments at the same time. Is anyone aware of any schools that are Title IV? I'm barely into my first course, so I can switch.

You might look into Capella. I am about ready to begin my Ph.D. program there.

    Forbearance (FYI)

    Bruinsgrad,
Thanks to your post, I just spoke to my Stafford provider as I am planning on pursuing my PHD out of country. They told me that I would be ineligible for a deferment which would delay interest, but that I could apply for a forbearance which would delay payments but not stop interest. The periods of the forbearance were 1 month or 1 year. As half of the loan was unsubsidized it would appear there isn't much of a difference in the effect of the two options. Hope this helps.

    My Dear Ms. Bruingrad:

How can this be? You previously stated you know more about the economics of health care than the CEO's of HMOs and you need financial aid?

Why not simply market your skills to the HMOs? I'm sure this knowledge must be worth millions.

Please read the top posts "Keeping on Topic:Treating Others With Respect". Further, please note I am not asking for financial aid, I'm asking for deferment. And never did I state that I know more about the economics of health care....etc., but you apparently took offense to my opinion. For that, I cannot apologize.

The following is your statement to me last month:

"Obviously, you choose to be close-minded and follow the ravings of extreme right-wing zealots."

    How respectful was that?

I do hope you get your loan situtation cleared up. The DOE is asking for new schools to participate in a Title IV demostration project. Did you ask NCU if they have applied for this program?
