Does any one have any information about American Global University? Is it a diploma mill? How long has it been around, etc?

They have been having some problems:

    From the 'Affiliations' page-

The College of Technology London (CTL) is not affiliated in any manner whatsoever with American Global Univeristy (AGU). CTL has not complied with either the academic or financial terms clearly stipulated and heretofore mutually agreed upon in an affiliation agreement with AGU. Thus, no degree or certificate issued by CTL on behalf of AGU may be considered as valid.

Certain unscrupluous individuals and entities in the United States and other countries, including Florida and Indonesia, have claimed affiliation with AGU or attempted to use its name while offering for sale and selling degrees. These individuals and entities are not affiliated with AGU in any manner whatsoever.

The individuals in Florida referred to above not only have been using AGU'S name illegally but additionally have been offering bogus degrees in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It is reiterated herein that these dishonest individuals are not affiliated with AGU in any manner whatsoever and are violating this institution's trade mark. Legal action has been taken.

AGU is not affiliated with any individual, institution, or organization in India.

They do big business in Indonesia - I remember seeing multitudes of ads there in 2001.

Bottomline - they are not accredited by a recognised accrediting agency and they claim licensure from Wyoming. Go figure.

    Cheers,

    George

It was "founded in June of 1996".

It is not accredited, but is state-licensed in Wyoming.

Wyoming is generally considered one of the laxest states. Rich Douglas has said, "Being approved by the state of Wyoming is like being approved by your Cousin Phil. True, but academically insignificant."

American Global University formerly used the address "2800 University Avenue, #121, Des Moines, Iowa". One of the DegreeInfo moderators, Kristin Evenson Hirst, in 1999 wrote an article on American Global University for about.com, revealing that this address was a Mailboxes Etc. mailbox.

In 2000, AGU "moved" to Wyoming, but its owner, S. A. Samadani , has apparently been in California the whole time. The Des Moines Register elicited from Samadani that he "wasn't sure" how many students were enrolled or whether AGU had awarded a degree in three years of operation.

AGU is not cheap. A bachelor's degree would cost at least:

    Application Fee = $ 90
    120 units X $120/unit = $13,200
    Graduation Fee = $ 25
    TOTAL ---------------> $14,515

No, but I did live in Orlando for a year. And quite personally, I don't really want to remember that year, though I did like Venice.
