    Estimated Weekly Time Commitment

For anyone out there who is currently taking or has previously taken an online EdD /PhD/EdS degree program, can you please share your experience related to how much time you spend per week on average for your program requirements?
(Please include which university/program you are doing and if you are enrolled as a full-time or part-time student)

    Thanks!

OK, well there have been 168 looks at this question and no one has answered in any way (which might be a kind of answer) but as someone who is NOT involved in a doctoral program of any type I can say without fear of contradiction that the answer is "it depends."

To me this largely depends on the program you're pursuing and the background you have. I'm currently doing an online EdD program through University of West Florida and in the 6 courses I've completed thus far [or are about to complete] I've spent an average of 20 minutes a week on the course requirements. That was taking 9 credits in the spring while teaching full time during the day, teaching as an adjunct at night, running a side business, and running a non-profit. However, all 6 of these courses have been repetitive from either my BA, MBA , or MeD . Others who didn't have my background have struggled to keep up with these same courses. So it is fairly difficult to answer this. Some have suggested that you should be spending about 15 hours a week on a 3 credit course, but don't recall their logic.

It also depends on what stage of the doctoral process that you are involved in. Everybody's scenario is different.
