Seeking Ed.D admissions advice

Greetings. I am planning on applying to the Curriculum, Teaching, Learning and Leadership Ed.D program at Northeastern University. I've never applied for to a doctorate program and was hoping I share my background and get some advice on applying and my chances of getting in.

I am a veteran of the Army National Guard. I have a BA and MA in History, as well as a Post BA Teacher Preparation Certificate, which gave my the pedagogical credits needed to become a licensed 7-12 Social Studies teacher . With that, I am an adjunct professor for the College of Staten Island (CUNY), as well as a substitute teacher for the NYC Department of Education.

My goal would be to earn the Ed.D in Curriculum, Teaching, Learning and Leadership, with hopes of becoming more involved in higher education, as well as moving up the ladder in the NYC DOE.

Any advice that is provided will be greatly appreciated.

 

Northeastern

I was looking into this university, as well. From what I heard, if you put together a solid statement, have a resume with experience and good letters of rec you should be fine. Of course, your previous GPA may also be used to make sure you can cut it in their program.

The good news is that even if it weren't to work out with this school, there are many options for an Ed.D that are available via distance learning. Actually, one of the reasons I steered away from Northeastern is the fact that they require the summer residency (I'm in Chicago) and with their tuition alone coming in around 40K- it is something that I feel I can earn elsewhere and get more bang for my buck.

Ultimately, its going to be whatever works best for you.
