    Hi All-

Does anyone know of any distance learning Education courses, especially those offered via independent study or with flexible start dates?

More specifically, I am looking for courses that may be equivalent to any of the following:

Theories of Teaching and Learning/Educational Psychology
    Effective Teaching
    Teaching of Reading
Teaching of Reading in the Elementary Classroom
    Curriculum and Assessment

I have tried Googling but have not come up with much. Thanks!

    Reading Studies

The Univesity of Texas Online Consortium has a master's program in Curriculum and Instruction, Literacy Studies which might suit your needs.

There is TEU - Teacher Education University - Home in FL. It is not an RA school. DETC accredited (I already have a masters from an RA so I really don't need to worry, it will just be adding to my certificate). I am taking classes there and I think it is just as rigorous as classes I took at University at South Florida that I can no longer afford. I had a professor at USF that didn't read my papers but still gave me an A. I paid about 1500.00 for that one class.

100% online, classes offered frequently, 220.00 per credit and you can pay monthly.

    good luck.

I am taking classes at Teacher Education University--www.teu.edu They offer classes pretty frequently. I have only taken 2 classes but I think they are just as good as University of South Florida (I had a professor who never read my paper but still gave me an A--I paid more than 1,200.00 for that class, but TEU charges 220.00 per credit and you can pay monthly.

    Hi Buddy,
According to my view, MBA is the great field. MBA is practical association teaching course. MBA Through distance learning is a good way of utilizing our energy in the education sector.

You might take a look at the VESI courses offered through Morningside College (and others) Morningside College Online Continuing Education Courses for Teachers - Distance Learning for Teachers - Professional Development for Teachers They are grad level, with the credit coming not from VESI, but the partner school. They are self paced, you study and write papers, from all accounts they are interesting and can be completed in a timely manner. The price is rather outstanding.

Morningside isn't the cheapest place to take the VESI anymore...but I can't recall the name of the college that does them cheap...St Charles maybe?

Ahh...looks like it's St Catherine St. Catherine University Continuing Education - Distance Learning for Teachers - Professional Development for Teachers

It wasn't the price so much as the additional paper Morningside instituted. Some sort of change.
