I am looking into options to learn more about instructional design, course development, hypermedia, and on line adult learning. I would like any recommendations for distance programs in these areas--especially from current or past students. I am currently pursuing an MA in Humanities from CSU Dominguez Hills with an anticipated graduation in the Spring. Thus, any program would come after that graduation. I am aware that the U of Southern Queensland has a program that appears to hit many of the items I need to learn about. Fort Hayes State looks like they have a good program as well. I would need to see if I could talk them into a graduate certificate, since I will already have a master's. Any thoughts?
You might also want to talk a look at the Open University's MA in Online and Distance Education, which is one of the few OU courses available in the US. http://www3.open.ac.uk/courses/bin/p12.dll?Q02F10_education Alternatively, there's the MA in Open, Distance and Flexible Learning from the University of London External Programme http://www.londonexternal.ac.uk/postgraduate/inst_education/flexible_learning/index.shtml but you're well past the deadline for a 2003 start. California State University, Hayward offers an MS in Education with a specialization in Online Teaching and Learning. This technology itself than towards the educational uses of that technology. I learned alot and enjoyed taking the classes. http://www.online.csuhayward.edu/Ms/index.shtml
Capella University has MS and PhD programs in their school of Education that cover areas like Instructional Design for Online Learning, Curriculum and Instruction with a Tech focus, and Adult Education--you might want to check them out. Their Education page is located at http://www.capella.edu/reborn/html/schools/education/index.aspx. Toonces
Follow up Thanks for the input. Right now I will probably go with Fort Hayes State University MLS program because they have a relevant focus and very low cost. First, however, I need to finish the CSUDH degree this Spring. Ternahan
