  1. Seminarians know a thing or two about IT.

For $9.98, you can get yourself an “Attractive and Impressive Diploma” from the Southeastern Institute of Computer Technology.

Lest you think that this is some fly-by-night operation, the Southeastern Institute of Computer Technology is affiliated with “The Holy Trinity College and Seminary, licensed by the State of Florida, Department of Independent Colleges and Universities.” And the single test you have to pass is probably every bit as tough as was legendary 70-240, the four-hour Windows 2000 Accelerated Exam. After all, the Institute exam is multiple-choice, open book, untimed, and can be retaken as many times as needed until you hit the magical 90 percent mark, demonstrating to the world that you’re a crack Windows administrator!

At last count, there were only about 50 of these certifications being sold on eBay.

If Microsoft isn’t your bag, don’t fret: Your expertise can be similarly demonstrated in (insert Sally Struthers voice here) Linux, Unix, HTML programming, Java programming, PC technician, Web master, and many others!

If you still need more convincing to jump on this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity, check out just three of the 10 reasons the Institute says you need certification:

Employers, friends and colleagues will respect your certification status.
Our diploma will look great on your wall.
With our courses you STAND OUT and receive immediate notice in the huge arena of people with computer skills. This notice will serve you well.

I like their "Virtual USACertified.net Building" they show in their main website. That's taking virtual a bit tooooooo far.

I graduated in 2001 and since I finished it I have been working steady in IT and contrary to what anyone else tells you about this schools certificate it helped me out. I told my boss who it was accredited by and how I came upon finding the school. And all he said was well it shows that you are wiling to get certified and have iniative. I was given a raise and a promotion upon my completion as a PC MASTER TECHNICIAN and the company I worked for put several people to work for me. I have been working in that job since that time. And while a lot of my co-workers were laid off I was able to keep moving ahead.

Well, I guess I've just got to say that I agree with hwy. An anonymous newbie suddenly appears and digs up a thread that's almost six years old and decides that this is the best way to post her first message. There's just something about this that doesn't seem quite right.

Well I did this course after seeing it for sell on the net and reading the blogs. I figured it was a joke and I was shocked that the course was actually a little hard. After I completed it they gave me an address where to contact to get college credit for it out of some religious school in florida. I did not even bother with contacting the other school. The old saying that an employer only looks at the paper and any school will do is true. It did not matter to Motorola where I got my degree. The guy who interviewed me looked at my certificate and said well you should be working in our IT group. I was worried about taking a job I had very little experience in. I had built a few PC as a teen. And upgraded a video card a few times or a sound card. I had even networked our family PC's to one printer. And that was really about all I knew how to do. I started in the IT group a couple a years ago and when I started I told the supervisor I had very little hands on experience. They taught me the way they wanted me to do the job. And no one has ever questioned my certificate that I got for this school. So I would have to say as hard as it is to beleive that this BS school did me some good. And I guess as long as I never mmention it at work I sm just fine.
