Hi, I recently enrolled in Excelsior's BS/CIS program. I need about 24 credits to finish the degree. Is anyone interested in exchanging information on this degree, . . . like what are the best tests to take . . . or notes for taking exams like Excelsior's or ICCP, etc . . . or anything in general. If interested in communicating, please reply back to this forum. I'll be checking back in soon. Thanks Mike
Excelsior BS/CIS I am also an Excelsior BS/CIS student with about 22 credits to go to complete my degree and will be happy to share info with you. Have you checked out the Discussion board at Excelsior yet? I've gotten a lot of good info on exams from that board that helped me focus my studies on the appropriate resources. I also find the discussions at this web site to be valuable since my intention is to go on for graduate studies via distance studies.
Hi calidris, Thanks for the reply and information. I'll check out the Discussion board at Excelsior too. Here is what I need to finish: Arts & Sciences Component - Ethics - 3.00 credits in Social Sciences/History Technology Component - 13.00 upper level credits in Computer Information Systems - Database Concepts - Data Structures or Data Communications - Systems Analysis and Design Are there any courses here that you need to take? I can take them first and give the study materials/notes/tips on them when I finish. Should I take Data Structures or Data Communications? I guess I could take both because I need the upper level credits. Thanks Mike
Excelsior College BS-CIS degree I am planning to earn my degree by taking examinations. At the moment I plan to take these exams to satisfy the following requirements: Ohi Uni ETCH*236A Intro to Microprocessors and Computer Basics Part I - computer architecture (I'm studying for this exam right now) ICCP Systems Development - Systems Analysis & Design ICCP Systems Programming - Operating Systems ICCP Data Resource Management - Database Then I have to take 4 additional CIS electives. To satisfy this requirement I'm thinking of the following: Ohi Uni ETCH*236B Intro to Microp. and Comp. Basic Part II ICCP Procedural Programming DANTES MIS ICCP Software Engineering So far, in addition to my MCSE and 2 additional M/S exams, I've passed the following exams: ICCP C++ DANTES Intro to Computing ICCP Communications I don't think I can advise you on what exams/courses to take as this depends upon your background and objectives. For me once I complete my BS-CIS, I hope to get into an accredited distance MS program either in CS or MIS. I'm certainly willing to share study resources and information. I've found the most difficult part of each exam has been finding the best resources to help prepare one for the actual test.
