    Hiii guys...
I'm going to apply for the master degree in computer science , Oakland U, Michigan..and I'm an international student...
I had the GRE exam 2 weeks ago,,I didn't prepare for long time-only 3 weeks- and I got 350-580-400 as a total of 1330 which is pretty bad...

ofcourse, they told me that I have to retake the test to pass at least 1600...
    so Now,,,,
**What is the best way to prepare for it, what is the best books??**

I have like 2 month to prepare for it, but I don't wanna just buy a shitty book that wastes my time...

I prepared The first time from Priceton Crack, but it doesn't help to advance your skills....
    any suggestions??

I'd recommend going to a school that doesn't require the GRE. Are you dead-set on that particular school?

Not exactly, but I think schools that don't require GRE are trach schools, or not considered as good names...

    No, I humbly disagree.

There are many regionally accredited colleges & universities that do not require the student to take a GRE to enter their masters program.

Many!!! Trust me!!! I'm sure that others will soon corroborate this. :)

In our case, we were required to take the GRE, but were allowed to enter the masters program, regardless of our score.

Is Oakland U a good name? I honestly hadn't heard of it before. Do they have a DL program, or are you planning to attend residentially?

My personal opinion is that unless you go with either a top school or one with a name that people are familiar with (due to size, sports, or whatever), then as long as it's RA (or internationally equivalent) it probably doesn't really matter. Even if one school has more rigorous admission standards than another, it probably won't affect the perception or value of your degree if people haven't heard of either school. Of course, if it's a school that's well known locally, and you plan to stay in the area, then that can definitely add value.

sorry "me again", I said that cause I just asked about the the schools that I know of..I should check other schools in the area,,,,

Oakland doesn't has that big name, but they have a very good program in Computer Science....It's also has a good reputation in Eastern Michigan area..

I would like to do everything to avoid taking the GRE again!!

Agree that the best option to avoid taking the GRE again is to go to a school that doesn't require it.

Other than that, I simply purchased a couple of books to prepare for the GRE. I think I used the REA and ARCO books and they worked for me. There are probably better books. I read the tips out of the ARCO book and took the computerized practice tests from both books. The practice tests were particularly helpful to reteach me some long-forgotten math (it's all simple, but test time is not the time to try and remember how to solve a quadratic equation). Additionally, the tests taught me the proper pace on the analytical section so I didn't run out of time. Worked very well for me, and I would estimate that preparing for about 8 or 10 total hours over a 2 week period raised my score by about 150 points over what it would have been had I gone in cold.
