    Hi!

I have been accepted into the Masters of Science degree program at the University of Liverpool. I start in October.

I was wondering if there was anyone on this board who has taken any of the courses from this University. I am trying to understand what to expect, and what will be expected of me.

    Thanks!

    Excellent Choice my fellow Canadian!

Courses run over 8 weeks, you will start with the CS module which is an introductory course in computer science. Very challenging courses and lots of work to do. Expect to work a minimum of 15 hours a week per course.

    Regards,

    Thanks for a reply!!

    RFValve,

I just received my course material from Amazon. Computer Science: An Overview!

I can't wait to get going. Did you find their online system worked well? Is it similar to a discussion group like this?

    What module are you on.

    Thanks!!

It is much better, the first class software is much faster that the web browser based discussion systems.

I'm not really taking courses since I'm an instructor in the program. Hope to see you there.

Is the Liverpool MS accredited by Trinity? If not, could one opt for a Trinity sticker to stick on the diploma? ;)

Jason, have you started your first course at Liverpool? How do you like it? Liverpool is one of the universities I'm considering to apply (MBA program, though), but wanted to hear some first hand experience.

After you applied, how soon did you know that you got accepted?

    Thanks.

    Started the Master's

    IT-DL,

    Hi there!

    I certainly did start.

I'll outline how everything went for me. I basically decided to pursue a Master's degree when I was whacked at Nortel a couple of years ago. I finally got everything together and applied at the University of Liverpool. It took about three months before I knew that I was accepted. There is a process where you need to fill out the application, get your undergrad transcripts sent over (official sealed versions), get letter's of reference together, ect.

I had an admissions advisor that was very helpful though, and I was on my way.

I officially started the program just yesterday. However, there was a 2 week orientation class that we went through to get used to the software and method of learning.

My first class is a Computer Science course. There seems to be about 12-15 students in the class. The software is quite nice, I run on Mac, and it works great. There is also a PC version, and soon a Linux version I believe.

The class is taught by a PhD. You enter into a conference room, and there were about 6 or 7 messages introducing you to the class, expectations, further reading materials and class overview. There are then 8 folders representing 8 weeks.

I am in the first week. In that folder there is a lecture. It is text and pictures. You basically read the text, and move on to the various assignments. Your assignments may be posts to the entire room, or posts directly to the professor.

I have to say, I really enjoy this style. I have spent more time than ever before on this. I like it, and I enjoy the discussions.

Email my if you like and we can discuss further...

    TTYL and good luck...

Well jmatte, now that it's 2 1/2 yrs. later, how did it go/is it going? I'm on the verge of completing my application to this program and could use some additional feedback. There seems to be some noise in various posts on this forum questioning UoL's assessment standards for the online modules. I take it all with a grain of salt; as I see it, a UoL degree is a UoL degree period end of sentence

Anyway, hope you're still checking in here.

    Cheers!

First of all i'd like to know something more about REAL course fees for an Online MBA.

If you have other particular details about the course don't hesitate to write down.

you can also write to me: [email protected]

    Liverpool not good enough

    Hi there,

Liverpool MBA opertaes thru a franchis company based in Holland. It was use to be called KIT but have changed there name recently (dont remember the new name now. plz check google).

Anyway the Fees for EU residents based in old EU member countries is ( if i remember correctly) something like 23000 Euro for the whole programm.

No GMAT is required and u only need TOEFL and a degree equivalent to UK Bachelors. Liverpool might be a good University but in my opinion not Good enough for 23000 EUR. For this much money there are other better options (once again my personal opinon) like Henley, Aston...

By the way if u r focused on studying in Liverpool, then the other Liverpool University (John moores) also offers a Masters degree in Busines Studies, which is much cheaper than the Liverpools MBA but than again John Moores Univ. is a former polytech(if it matters to u) and the degree is ofcourse not MBA.

Any way all the best to you and happy easter.

    WH
