Am I correct that US papers are 100 200 300 400 for a four year degree?

If so are only 400's upper level?

In New Zealand we have level 5 6 7 8

Level 7 would be third year of a degree.

Can somebody clarify on this for me please.

In the "100," "200," "300," and "400" course numbering system, the first digit represents the year level out of the four years of U.S. undergraduate education. 100 is first-year (freshman), 200 second-year (sophomore), 300 third-year (junior), and 400 fourth-year (senior).

As a rule, 100- and 200-level courses are lower level (lower division), while 300- and 400-level courses are upper level (upper division), in the way these terms are used in the U.S.

Numbers like 090 signify "developmental" courses, "courses that prepare students for college-level courses," or "remedial" courses. Developmental or remedial courses themselves generally don't count towards the requirements for a degree, but of course they can refresh and prepare students to take subsequent courses that do.

I don't know enough about New Zealand course numbering to compare these directly!
