    Hi All,

I've been accepted to the University of Illinois Springfield in their distance MS MIS program and would like some feedback on the program if possible.

Specifically, do you have to attend classes at specific times, or can you watch lectures at you leisure? I have also heard that professors require proctors for their tests. What was that process like?

I would appreciate any additional feedback that anyone else would have about this program. I am attempting to decide between this school and the MSIA degree at DSU. Thanks in advance.

    I've completed this program.

The lectures are recorded and made available for future viewing. There was never a requirement that you had to even view them later, though it is helpful when preparing for exams and getting additional feedback on assignments.

The mid-terms and finals are proctored. Basically, you declare a proctor to the professor via a contact form at the beginning of the semester, typically a local CC, university, library, or military testing center. UIS will email or mail the password to the proctor, and on test day, you pay the fee for the proctoring service, log into blackboard, the proctor enters the password, and you take the exam. Once graded, your grade appears on blackboard. My proctoring fees generally ran ~$50 per class per semester, but this may vary as these are charged by the local schools themselves.

The MSIA program at DSU is focused in information assurance, and is properly accredited for that topic. The MIS program at UIS is a general information systems degree and is AACSB accredited. 2 totally different programs, so determining which 1 is better depends on your end-goal for pursuing the degree. I am very happy with UIS and have recommended them to others.
