    A couple questions:

-Is it hard to get admitted in to the the eTroy undergrad program?
I've not been to school in awhile and I wonder if I'll get past over for someone with more current credits.

-How transfer-credit-friendly are they? Plus, do they accept straighterline, CLEP, etc.?

Sorry for the stupid questions, I am considering them and TESC's ComSci BA program. (leaning more and more towards Troy).

    I was considering some others.

SUNY-ESC: Too many uncertainties with designing the degree program.

    Regis: Pricey

Bellevue: The degree curriculum for software development didn't really match my goals.

UMass Lowell: Expensive and I feel like it would probably take forever, considering my A.A.S. is in Multimedia.

I am a Troy University's alumnus. Yes, I was in the Computer Science program before they changed it into Applied Computer Science. The acceptance transfer up to 90 credits out of 120 credit-program. However, only 60 credits are accepted for lower division, any CLEP,DANTES, Military training credit s are considered as lower division. I completed the program in 24 months while serving active duty in the Marine Corps. I chose Troy University because of the fast track and low tuition. I spent only $2,000.00 for textbook and some tuition as I maxed out DoD tuition assistance.

If you're looking for a real deal Computer Science program that leaning toward programming development. Then Troy University's program is not for you. However, you can continue to complete your Master in Computer Science. Since your goal is not Software Development. Then, the program is for you...I assume!

    Good Luck!

Troy’s customer service is horrible from my experience.

I live a few hours away from the main campus in Troy, Alabama and thought it was a great school for me to complete my undergrad at. I know several graduates and even toured the campus twice. I was all set to start classes last spring but decided to go in a different direction because they were too slow. It took them 10 weeks to evaluate my transcripts and my advisor was not helpful.

I hear Troy is a good school, but I think they have more students than they can handle. Hopefully they've improved since then.

Hi TEKMAN, Actually my goal is software development, but Bellevue's program didn't have any classes focused on web-specific applications for that program. I'd love to work on a smattering of all programming languages, if possible. Bellevue's software dev concentration seemed very Java intensive and not as diverse as I'm wanting.

What is Troy's Applied Computer Science Major's main focus? (IT, networking, etc?) if not software dev/programming...

    Thanks for your insight! :)

Yeah lawrenceq, this is something I've been concerned with too. I've heard that they have a bad rep for communicating with students in regards to the application process.

Where did you end up attending after that experience?
