    Hello everyone,

I am interested in studying the B.Sc. of Computer Science/Database Technology at Baker College Online. Has anyone studied that program? What is the quality of education at Baker in general and for this program in particular?

Any ideas, reviews, tips or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

I don't have first hand experience, but I chose Troy University over Baker College back in the day. Especially, I did not like Baker College for several factors: 1) College over University, 2) Quarterly System, 3) Baker College's Computer Science curriculum has so many web development courses. Just keep in mind that $210 per quarter equals to $315.00 per semester. Baker College is based in Michigan; however, they are spreading out to the Western states for distance education. If you ask people from the east coast, not so many people know about the school.

For the first hand experience, you can find the reviews at Online Degree Reviews.

There are many schools offer BS in Computer Science that you might to consider.
    - Florida State University
    - California State University at Chico
    - University of Illinois at Springfield (Sangamon State University)
    - Regis University
    - Troy University (Troy State University)
    - Trident University International (Formerly known as Touro University International, TUI University)

What is the difference between a college and a university? Does it make a difference for employers to hire someone graduated from either one? Are Universities more prestigious?

    Thanks in advance..

College versus University. That is a great question. They are more prestigious, but I don't know the difference.

    From wikipedia.
Higher education in the United States - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

It seems that universities are collections of colleges. USF in Tampa has a College of Business and a College of Engineering, for example.
St Petersburg College used to be a junior college called SPJC, but now that it is a four year college, the junior designation has been removed.

One more thing. My bachelors degree is from Thomas Edison State College. They group the college into "schools" like the Haven School of the Arts.
Northcentral University breaks its departments down into schools as well.
According to Wikipedia, outside of the US, any US college is considered a university.

Unfortunately, CSU Chico no longer offers their BS in Computer Science program online. I was kind of bummed because that was the #1 program I wanted to get into (me being located in CA & all).

It is unnecessary more prestigious, but it sounds better. For example, Dartmouth College is way more prestigious than Southern Methodist University. And yes, Dartmouth is a four-year research academic institution.

You got me. . . I would have thought that most anything University would trump any College for name prestige.
