    Hi Everybody,

I've decided to go for a computer science B.S. online and narrowed it down to Troy University, Baker College, Dakota State and Regis University -- any suggestions? I am disabled and poor, so money is a concern, as is the reputation of the program. Are there any other schools that you think should be on my list?

    Thanks!! :)

I received a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science at Troy University in 2006. I completed the program in 24 months while on active duty in the United States Marine Corps. The program was changed into Bachelor of Science in Applied Computer Science in 2005. I had great experience with Troy University, and here are my recommendation for you. If you live closer of any of your selected school, then choose that school to avoid any distance learning curve on your resume.

As far for the list of schools you have narrowing down, I would choose Regis University. It is a solid Jesuit institution locates in Denver, Colorado; my best friend completed his Master of Science in Project Management with great experience. But if money is not a factor, I would choose Florida State University.

Thank you, Mark and Tekman, for your suggestions. Selecting a school requires a TON of research -- I didn't think it would take weeks, or even months! I am in a local undergrad IT program right now and would really like to focus on computer science. Regis right now is out. My credits from a previous B.A. did not transfer well at all :( Finances weigh in heavily right now. I'm looking at Troy and UIS....

    Thanks again!!

More and more colleges offering degrees online.`

I can not tell you where to attend, I attended Baker College for my undergraduate degree and University of Illinois Springfield and thought both were good programs. You have to determine this for yourself. They both offer low cost programs. I suggest you start out at community college first if cost is an issue. I believe that University of Illinois Springfield only accepts those in their third and fourth year into their online program. Issue you may run into is employers not knowing your school. Many of those you talk to will not have any background in CS at all. They will base things on their own perceptions. You are best off attending online at the college closest to your house that way you won't get "why did you choose to attend there?".
