I have many certifications that you can see listed below. I have 30-40 hours of Respiratory Therapy credit hours from an accredited college. I also have about 20-30 hours of general electives. And I have about 25 hours of IT classes. These are all at the 299 or lower level. I think I have close to 100 hours total.

I went to Excelsior and did the College Tracker but they won't accept the Respiratory Therapy courses as science courses. They will give me 22 hours credit for the certifications. So I'm looking at 40-50 hours to complete the degree there.

Is there a better way? A better place? Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, Check with TESC for credits for your respiratory therapy. I'm quite sure credits are given but haven't found the reference to how many. I hope this gives you a new idea. Hille

A couple of quick points Dmor13. If the Respiratory Therapy credits were from a RA institution they would apply to the EC degree at least as elective credits.

EC offers a BS in CIS. TESC offers a BS in BA with a concentration in CIS, BA in CS and a BS in AST. I believe COSC offers a BS or BA in Liberal Arts with a concentration in Computer Science Studies. The COSC diploma does not mention the concentration.

While the Big 3 (EC, TESC and COSC) offer the quickest route to a degree there are several other good choices for a computer science program. Troy State University offers a traditional BS in CS. Univ. of Maryland University College offers a BS in Information Systems Management, Computer Studies or Computer and Information Science. University of Massachusetts Lowell offers a BS in Information Technology. Fort Hays State University offers a BS in General Studies with a concentration in Information Networking and Telecommunications. University of Washington offers a BS in Computer Systems and Software. Interestingly the U of W program offers certificates as you progress through the program. U of Mass, Troy State and Fort Hays offer in-state tuition rates for the DL programs. There are of coarse other programs but these are the ones that seem most inviting to me.

I hope this is of help if you have specific questions please post them.

    Uh-oh. Now you've done it. ;)

RA is shorthand for "regionally accredited." There are lots of discussions here about the relative worth of regional accreditation vs. other accreditation agencies (most notably the Distance Education Training Council (DETC) ) that I won't go into in hopes that they won't all get rehashed in this thread.

    Good luck.
