I've been searching for an IT/computer science degree by distance learning but they're all so expensive. I don't care if the institution is American or European or Australian. But it be something credible.

I will appreciate all suggestions :)

The cheapest recognized degree in IT that I know is the one from the British Computer Society. Its Diploma in IT is recognized as the equivalent of a British Bachelors degree.

This is a qualification by examination so probably the whole thing is less than 2K.

You can use to be admitted into a Master's degree, if you work in the US, WES will consider it as a 3 year British Bachelors.

You should be able to get one from TESC/EC/COSC for under 20k.

I was thinking about those, as well. Also, WGU is about $3,000 per 6 month term, so if you can finish in under 3 years it will be less than $20K.

Do you have ANY college credits? What about industry certificates (e.g. A+, Net+, MCSA, CCNA, etc)? Depending on what you are bringing to the table, you have several options available to you.

I recommend WGU but at the same time they are working hard to ensure that they stop the flood of one-two term graduates because it causes all kinds of credibility issues. I graduated in 2007 with a final price tag of 17k.

    Hi every body,

I've been searching for a Bachelor of Software Engineer entirely through Credit-By-Examination because I have no enough money. Could any body guide me some Universities?

I am a Programmer with 5 years experience and my ambition is to become a teacher so I pursue Bachelor of Software Engineer. The barrier is money so I need an University offer Bachelor of Software Engineer entirely through Credit-by-exam.

I will appreciate all suggestions :)

I second the WGU recommendation. I'm in the BSIT program right now, with about a month left on my first term. I've completed 53 credits (CU), with about 25 CU left to go. (I transferred in 43.)

Anyway, I haven't seen or heard anything at all concerning an attempt to slow things down. If anything, my mentor pushed me pretty hard (at my invitation). I was hoping to do it in one term, but I'll be fine with two.

I graduated from Troy University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science in 24 months. The final price tag was $12,000.00 include textbooks, which only $2,000.00 was out of my pocket. Then I got about $500.00 back from selling my used textbooks. The current decent program in IT with low cost is from Fort Hays State University.

Since you already have your bachelors degree (and in a great field like accounting) I wouldn't waste my time going for a second bachelors, if I were you. Your best bet is to get a masters degree. One thing you may not know is that there are MANY masters programs for people who have bachelors degrees in non IT subjects. These programs developed as a result of the 90's dot com boom and beyond, when many people with non technical bachelors degrees (like myself) found themselves working in IT.

For a good value, it is quite hard to beat Fort Hayes State University's Masters of Liberal Studies program in SEVERAL IT related fields including:
    Computer Networking and Telecommunications
    Information Assurance
    Information Networking and Telecommunications
    Management Information Systems
    Web Development

For folks with zero tech experience, they offer some undergraduate "leveling" courses that you should take to get up to speed. Usually it is only 1-3 courses. Even with the extra courses, my bet is that you will finish earlier and for less money than you would with a masters degree.

With the tuition at $235 per graduate credit, and $174 per undergraduate credit, my bet is that even with the extra leveling classes, it will still come out WAY under your $20K limit. The masters degrees are 31 credits, plus 9 credits of undergraduate leveling courses, if required. That breaks down to:
    $7,285 for the graduate credits
$1,566 for the undergraduate leveling courses
$8,851 total for your Masters degree.

It is going to be hard to beat that deal anywhere. Also, I wouldn't worry to much about the degree being an Master of Liberal Studies as opposed to an Master of Science. You should be able to leverage your Accounting degree and a tech masters in to a very lucrative position.

If anyone knows of other RA tech master's degrees under $10K, let me know. I would like to make a list.
