Can anyone offer an opinion on a very very quick tech degree? So far, the quickest one I have found is at Bellevue University in Web Technology...takes about a year. It looks pretty interesting but I have only just started looking into this stuff and I would like to make an informed choice.

    Any info would be appreciated.
    Thx

Depends on how many credits and/or certificates you bring to the table. If you have zero college credits and zero certs it might be challenging (but still possible) to knock out a BA in under a year. However, I read a post on another forum about a guy who came into WGU with 51 credits and finished his BS in IT in six months. I'm betting that if you are willing to take a bunch of CLEP and similar tests, and you already know much of the material, you could knock out a BS from Excelsior, TESC, or COSC in a year.

If you have tech certs, several schools will convert those into credit as well.

If you have a lot of the knowledge already and simply want the paper to document what you already know, then doing a degree through a combination of exam and/or portfolio might be a good option. There are three schools that specialize in this, all regionally accredited, and two part of the state university system in their respective states. Thomas Edison State College, Charter Oak State College, and Excelsior College. All offer some variant of a bachelors in CIS or CS (though at Charter Oak, it would be a Bachelor of Liberal Studies with a concentration in CS)

You can read the article on the front page of our site that describes how one person did it in 6 months, and you might also want to take a look at Lawrie Miller's informative site bain4weeks.com.

Bellevue is also a great school, and if I remember correctly, University of Maryland University College ( UMUC ) also has a CIS program that's highly regarded.
