Can a certification program (Like CISCO, MS) be an alternative to a college degree?

I read few articles comparing certification programs to a college degree. Is this possible to get a job with a certification (without a college degree) in IT/CS?

Yes, you can get a job in IT without a college degree; which only based on IT certifications. However, soon you need a college degree in order to make a move to higher positions. Recently, I see lot of job opening would ask for "minimum a Bachelor degree or 10 years experience." I would recommend to have your certifications done, and have a job...then use these certifications toward your Bachelor degree. You cannot earn the entire degrees based on certification because, but you can get at least 50% of your degree based on testing (DANTES, DSST, GRE, IT certifications): Thomas Edison State College, Charter Oaks State College, Excelsior College, and Western Governors University.
