WHY is the UCF not allowing international students to take their MSDF? I am able to enroll in their DF Certificate, but am precluded from taking their Masters degree. I am at a loss - as progressive as they seem, they are definitely not reaching out to a global market. So, what are my options? I am now between paying considerably more money for such a degree or paying considerably less and go for a Masters in CS... 1) Edith Cowan's Masters is going to cost about $18k 2) I contacted APUS but have not yet received a response 3) Champlain over $30k 4) Penn State over $30k I am now researching UK Universities which offer a Masters in DF.. but it is frustrating when a program like UCF's MSDF is so close and yet out of reach.. ARGH! <rant off> ...and then there's the issue of the smiley faces between every letter when trying to do an edit?!
Could it be because they cover content protected under cryptography laws or something similar? I've not really looked at the program, but that would be really the only thing I could think of along those lines.

I cannot edit my post but this MSc in Digital Investigations --> MSc in Digital Investigation | The UCD Centre for Cybercrime Investigation is exactly what you are looking for. You have yearly exams in Dublin (which is awesome) and the rest of the program is online. It can also be completed in 2 years!
TUI University (catalog in PDF) also offers an IT Management master degree with digital forensics/ cyber security specialization. Dakota State University also offers a masters degree that can be tailored along those lines. You can even bypass a master degree and go right into a Doctor of Science in Information Systems with opportunity to specialize in the information assurance/cybersecurity/digital forensics area. Towson University may also be a good fit, and also, City University, Nova Southeastern University, Utica College, UMUC's new Cybersecurity masters, or even one the information assurance graduate program offered by Capitol College (which in my opinion is a very good program because it is one of the most certified information security program. which is stated and quoted here from their site: "National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security Committee on National Security Standards (CNSS), and the (ISC)2 organizations requirements for the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) credential" Goodluck with your search!

soupbone: I didn't forget about the programme - but the travel to Dublin and the costs associated to that are definitely holding me back (flight alone: $1000 - and I just don't believe my wife would let me go without here, so double that! ) Cyber: great links - thank you! I had forgotten about Dakota State. Nendres: I did receive a response and was told that more information would become available in September... I also found another one that is going high on my list: University of Rhode Island. They have a Masters in CS with a Digital Forensics Track; their certificate would allow a transfer in of three courses (perhaps I'll take the Cert @ UCF and then move 3 courses into URI) so it can be done entirely online. What is also rather enticing about URI is... "Completion of the Master's degree allows automatic admission to the PhD Program with up to 30 credits transferring, if the student desires." Digital Forensics - University of Rhode Island ..though the tuition for their program eludes me - I am awaiting a reply and will post it once received.
I had missed that - thanks So it's in the area of $18k ... I can live with that. Cyber: I had a look at most of those and I am leaning towards a Masters in DF rather than Information Assurance... my area of expertise is Digital Forensics and seeing that I will be in that field for the forseeable future, I would like to have a Masters in precisely that discipline.
After looking more at the links cyber provided I think I may broaden my degree options - going into DF may limit my options down the road....... too many choices! ...time to put on some Lizz Wright, grab a nice glass of wine and ponder

I received some more info about UCD's programme from Pavel and asked him about applying to it now.... the cost of a flight is about $1000 and I'd be forced to travel to Dublin twice in the next two years for exams, but I am willing to take on that burden (if I were accepted). Let's see!
That's awesome! let me know how it works out. I exhausted myself researching the program and I really thought it had one of the best curriculums in that field. Had I not switched gears that is the program I had decided on. When I found the articles with endorsements from Interpol and Microsoft I was sold. I would love to travel to Dublin for exams and spend a few days taking in the sights after taking the exam. Good luck!
If you didn't want the full master's degree Boston University (highly ranked school) offers a graduate certificate in Digital Forensics --> http://www.bu.edu/online/online_programs/certificate_programs/digital_forensics.html It can be completed in 12 hours so realistically in 2 semesters you could be finished. It's certainly something to consider. This cert combined with the EnCe might be just as beneficial as the master's degree.
Unfortunately Pavel has not replied to my e-mail as of yet, so I'm quite certain that it's too late.. c'est la vie (perhaps next year?) So far I'm putting my name into URI and UCF (BU is a good school, though their cert is 4 courses ($2,884/course = $11,536.- - nearly the cost of a Master's Degree) and may look at UCD next year. I'm going for ACE certification next month and EnCE is in the works for the spring Thanks soup
Consider giving him a call. I spoke to him on the phone once or twice to clarify some details about the degree. I'm not sure why he isn't returning an email because every time I would email I would receive a response a few hours later. I looked over the URI program and it looks pretty good. Most programs in Digital/Computer Forensics cover the same material and just present it differently. In this field your certs will be as important as your degree so I'm glad to hear you're studying for those as well. Good luck and keep us updated!
..after much thought I believe that starting this program now would not be in my best interest.. I'm getting ready to take the CWNA exam in October/November and going for ACE certification at the end of next month, not to mention I have a couple of CLEPs to take in September... ..thankfully I am insane, which helps tremendously I like both UCF and URIs programs, too, so I am a bit torn at this point - but since UCD's wouldn't start until September and both UCF and URI start in the spring, I have time to decide...
