  1. Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of applying to UIS's MS IS program. However, I wanted to see if what I'm experiencing is typical of the application process.

I applied back in July, and received an e-mail from one of their admissions people on 8/7 that they needed all of my CLEP, DANTES and TECEP transcripts. No problem, that's fine (although interestingly enough for IU it wasn't required).

I arrange to get them sent and checked in a bit later - on 9/3 I get a message back:

"According to your computer records, we received some transcripts for you on August 24th and 25th. When your application comes to me for update, I will know if there is enough to be able to forward it on or if we still need anything else."

I then check in again on 9/25 (a month after the transcripts are apparently received) and hear back:

"According to your computer records, several transcripts were received in yesterday afternoon's and this morning's mail deliveries but your file hasn't come to me for update just yet. Once it has, I will know if I have enough information to be able to forward your application to the program or if anything else may be needed."

Virtually the same message...should I leave sleeping dogs lie and let it work through the system?

I would follow-up with a polite telephone inquiry letting the admissions representative know about the original message regarding having received the transcripts. It is possible the paperwork is out of sync with the computer system. Sometimes even sleeping dogs need a little poke, especially if they are the gatekeepers and have fallen asleep.

  3. I'll probably do exactly that in a week's time. As I'm applying for the spring term it's not a rush, but I'd like to know what's up and if they have everything they need.
