My neighbor has an HP desktop and his friend decided to help him “clean it up”. Since the clean up the computer will go so sleep and the monitor will display “No Input”. The computer never wakes up. A while ago I deleted some required drivers from my IBM laptop and was able to go to IBM’s website that had a tool. The tool reviewed all my drivers, recognized what was missing, and downloaded it – problem solved. Does something like this exist for HP? Any suggestions?
I had three HP and all suffered from this, what I was able to find out is, that sometimes the hard drive dies (average life of a hard drive is 5 years but HP were much less with mine) and you will need to replace it or buy a new computer(best to get a new one). Reason enough for me not to ever, ever, ever buy an HP. I try HP customer service with my last computer, but they were no help. If your neighbor has the system disks he may be able to get it back working, but if not he will need to have that one repair or buy a new one. Hopefully, he should have back up for all his files. HP may have drives but for that the computer will need to be working. Finally, there is a possibility the system may had catch a virus and that one is a scary situation.
That isn't just indicative of HPs. I have a custom built machine and it was doing it to me all the same. Since I had a pro se system I had no such drivers readily available so I turned off the sleep mode. It was resolved when I updated the drivers on my video card for another reason.
Randell, I'm not trying to be insulting but did the individual just try moving a mouse or actually depress the power button? When my system hibernates you have to depress the power button for the system to reinitialize. It's not as lengthy as a complete boot but still not as simple say for example a power save mode were the monitor is turned off after a brief period of inactivity. I normally set my monitor and my hard drive to shut down at different times but when both periods have passed my system hibernates and can only be brought up with the power button. I don't own any HP desktops but the settings are the same for both my laptops and desktops. What OS?
I am typing right now on a HP laptop with Windows Vista that does the exact same thing. To get it out of hibernate I have to press the power button, and it boots the same way that Kevin described in his post. Was this a new system or was it an older one that was upgraded to Vista during the "clean up"?
Randell, the second link might be the best. Everything I have found is related to the video driver. Either via Vista install or a Windows update. http://forums.nvidia.com/lofiversion/index.php?t26870.html http://forums.cnet.com/5208-12546_102-0.html?forumID=133&threadID=185067&start=0&tag=forum-w;forums06 http://forums.techarena.in/vista-help/1068627.htm
HP Update 4.0 is an utility already included in our HP notebook device. But still, we can download it free from the developer's website and install it again in case we need to. This tool have been designed for connecting our computer to the HP website and automatically check up for all of our HP devices and HP software.
