Hello all! I need a hand from the IT folks. What certifications would you recommend for someone who could teach an Intro to Web Page Development Course. Our school is interested in having our web page designer teach the course. Here's a sample of his work: www.lco.edu He has a BA in English, currently enrolled in an MA in English/Education at WNMU. We want him to teach the course, but we need him to hold the correct certifications to keep us kosher with the Higher Learning Commission. Thanks in advance for your help! Shawn
There are many different tools that can be used for design, but the products that stand out for web design, like Dreamweaver http://www.adobe.com/products/dreamweaver/, are from the Adobe Creative Suite. They are industry standard, cutting edge and integrated. You would do your fellow employee a favor by bringing him up to speed on all of the Adobe products. He could then teach design courses...In Design, Illustrator, Photoshop, as well. I would have him become product certified. http://www.adobe.com/support/certification/aci.html If he needs training on those products to quickly bring him up to speed, then he can do it for $25 per month here http://www.lynda.com/ He will thank you for the push.
Shawn, also consider Certified Internet Web Professional program, which appears to be the leading general web cert organization. I took the CIW Foundations exam in December of last year; it's fairly basic. Your web page designer should be able to easily pass the Foundations exam. Perhaps encourage him to complete the other two tests in the Designer track. CIW offers online training options coinciding with each exam in the Designer track.
