    Hi

Anyone aware, please, of accredited IPV6 courses?

I've 'searched online', but all the ones I've found seem to be private and unaccredited.

    Many thanks

Not sure what you meant by IPV6 course. Do you want to learn about IPV6?

I am researching/learning about IPv6 at the moment through lots of online resources, including Cisco.

However, I want something which is formally accredited as I'm looking at the possibility of going into 'migration consultancy' when the whole thing kicks off in the next 18-months, or so.

IPV6 backbone migration started in June.

    use this search string:

    online ipv6 migration training site:.edu

and you will receive a good number of results.

    This one:

I would venture that any telecommunications or IS program would have courses either offered or in the works.

    Check with these folks:

otherwise there are a number of reputable providers:

It's unlikely that .edu institutions will offer a whole course in IPv6, except perhaps as a non-credit professional development offering. It's complex, but not *that* complex. You cannot successfully grasp all its details using IPv4 as the frame of reference.

In my observation, to the extent that universitites cover the nuts and bolts of a particular protocol like IPv6, it would be offered in:

    A. a vocationally-oriented course aimed at aspiring network administrators. These courses also cover IPv4 and interior gateway routing protocols (e.g. RIP and OSPF) as well. In my experience these courses frequently use Cisco's own training materials as course texts, so there may be some utility in just skipping this sort of middle man and going straight to a for-profit Cisco training partner.

    B. Courses aimed at those who wish to develop APIs or hardware that employ routing protocols. These are graduate level computer science or electrical engineering courses; they cover more theory, so they have prerequisites in fancy math.

Here are some schools with reputable telecom/networking programs you may wish to investigate: Fort Hays State, University of Colorado CAETE, University of Denver, Pace University, Stevens Institute of Technology, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, SMU, Oklahoma State, UMUC, Capella.

FWIW, at my employer - a major telecom equipment manufacturer and competitor to Cisco - formal IPv6 training is conducted internally by our most senior hardware architects, guys with deep experience in programming real time operating systems.
