Since I've received advice on some colleges that utilize IT Certifications as College Credit, I thought I'd start a thread specifically for this purpose for myself and others to use as a reference.

I'll start with Excelsior College. Here is a detailed list of what IT Courses and Certifications they will accept as college credit.

Sure.. there isn't a great deal to it. For the MS IT program they will give you 9 elective credits if you have an MCSE. For the MBA - Project Management program they will give you 9 credits if you have a PMP.

Interesting, those certifications are worth ~$3000 each if you compare costs associated with MBA credit tuition, and even more if you double utilized them toward your Excelsior BSLS.

There certainly could be a cost savings if you were to double dip. The highest cost savings would be if you went with the Charles Sturt program where IT certs can make up half of the total credits. With Aspen's already very low tuition plus them only allowing one fourth of a couple programs to be completed with certs the savings would be much lower.

This is true! Another option I noticed is that TESC not only allows IT Certifications as credit for their degree programs, but they also allow 9 credit hours from graduate studies to count toward their undergraduate degrees. I wonder how the tuition for graduate courses would work at TESC since it would technically be an undergrad enrollment.

If you were taking a graduate course from TESC I'd imagine they would charge you graduate pricing. Excelsior will also take graduate credit towards undergrad courses, they would of course need to be approved. At one time I considered an NCU masters (when I was still an undergrad at Excelsior) at that time I asked for permission to take a graduate course at NCU to fill a specific requirement at Excelsior. This was approved but I later changed my mind and didn't pursue that path.
