Wile my brother in law is married to IBM he is with them since late 70's and will retire with them I personally don't like IBM as an Employer and as Services provider. They charge for name recognition a lot but their performance in projects and I have been the customer on some occasions I very poor. They left mess for others to come after and clean, make things actually work. But the biggest issue I have with them is how they treat " mistreat" their employees consultants the arrogant managers have no sympathy or sensitivity to their consultants needs, they will have there hungry and nickel and dime you for food when you are on the road, they will not have work for you to do but yet keep you staying late anyway until you are blue from hunger then they will in a city like NY provide miserable funds for a meal. The is the only normal thing they seems to be able to allow their people who fly coast to coast on their own time - i.e. weekend to have. The pay well its market and I think below average, the good thing is to specialise on their products like the degree program but not really join the IBM, go for known name consulting company or take a contract etc. When I was interviewed and had offer from their Business Consulting Services I was sad, and hoped to an offer from a better company, luckily for me it came, I would have worked for IBM and continued looking for a better place anyway, well bills don't wait. I still have their documents they produced for us I keep them to show employees how NOT to produce documents. They had our upper management in their pocket, politics etc and made millions and in the end it was a subcontracting unknown company that pooled them from the mud. My 2c
