A Virtual Chatting World The Sims meets MySpace in the social-networking service There.com. You and your digital avatar move here and there through a carefully crafted graphical environment, but you don't shoot people or blow them up. You talk to them with text messages or real-time voice. http://tinyurl.com/qeyzo
Just what the world needs, yet another virtual dating ground...as if the cocooning effects where not obvious enough as it is. Whatever happened to leaving the house to meet people? ..there must be a lot of people afraid to show their real personalities! Pathetic...and then people wonder why the world is in the state that it's in.
I checked out the review and the site (no, I'm not that hard up...) , and I'd like to officially weigh in with "creepy". Dave
Dave, did you read "War of the Worlds" in your BIS program? That had some mighty creepy cocooning business in it as I recall. Cyber-living and such. Is this similar (I've not checked the site).
Hiya, Sean. Yep, the book was included, though they dropped it for following sessions (not really sure why). Check out the current BIS curriculum if you get a chance; they've changed it up a bit. I hadn't thought about it, but yes, the site had shades of War of the Worlds. Seemed to be a virtual way to "meet without meeting" people while still holding onto the vain hope of finding romance/recognition, but only on your own hubristic/selfish (cocooning) terms. On a side note, I noticed in another post that you were moving to the Glen Alllen/Richmond VA area. I have a cousin up there with a law firm and CPA practice (she's a tax attorney). We visit from time to time, so I’ll let you know if I get through there, and PM me know if need any info on the area. Which company is it that you’re working for? Dave
I'll look forward to getting together when you come into town. I'll be working for a consulting company called Fahrenheit Technology (http://hottechnology.com). I'll be on site at Wachovia Securities.
It is amazing how much of our existence we are willing to move into a virtual realm. A friend suggested that it is because the human character is inherently cowardly but I wonder...
It is amazing to me that you have the stones to come here and list your degree mill websites on this fine board.
