The ICCP exams are not easy, but they are not impossible to pass. Are the credits you are looking for at Excelsior? I picked up a lot of credits by testing out with the iccp exams. Bird publications and the ICCP office both have study guides and practice tests to help you study. If you do fail one, don't get discouraged and stick with it. All the hard work and studying was well worth it. Good luck.

I follow the industry, at least here in the USA, and have activily used resume search to benchmark myself against others, and I have to say I have not seen alot of ICCP certified people out there. Have I just missed something, which is possible, or is this a cert only know in certain circles, like the CET (Certified Electronics Tech)?

I read over some prep stuff and for the amount of college credit you get it is definatly worth the effort.

This came off the iccp site. Thought you might find the CISSP and CCP comparison interesting

    Any CCPs around here?
I would like to share my recent experience with the ICCP Systems Security Specialty Exam. It is an elective part of the Certified Computing Professional curriculum, which requires of a candidate to pass a mandatory Core exam and two elective specialty exams. Since the Systems Security was offered among other specialty exams (Programming, Management, Systems Design etc...), it seemed as a logical choice for a CISSP in a good standing.

I must admit I was nicely surprised with it - and learned that I have underestimated its difficulty - or I simply thought that since it cannot be any tougher than the CISSP it must be a no-brainer considering its smaller footprint..

The research I conducted on the CCP experiences (amazingly little can be found on the Net, what may be quite surprising considering there is 55k CCPs out there!) revealed only a few facts: candidates claim it is difficult, no good study materials exist, and the passing rate is very poor - as a result of the fist two I suppose.

The exam itself very much reminds of the CISSP. It contains 110 questions in total, or so, it is paper based, it has a same multi-choice format, and a similar taste. Only the allowed time is proportionally shorter compared to the CISSP - 90 minutes in total. In order to pass it, a 70% or more has to be answered correctly - according to the ICCP.

The Core exam seems even more challenging as it covers a wide area of college level knowledge.

CCP folks certainly deserve lots of respect in the IS community. The proof of that can be found in the fact that the CIPS accepts the CCP as a valid alternative to the college designations (when combined with the appropriate level of the professional experience) for those who apply for the I.S.P.

Some people are taking these exams as the proficiency exams for their college credits.

I have copied the short list of the study area covered by this exam.

All the best to those who decide to pursue it.

The core CCP exam is FAR broader than a typical cert. It covers business topics equivalent to a minor in business, plus requires a broad background in information systems and is management.

I haven't seen the credit recommendations for quite a while, but the last time I looked, they carried over 30 hours of credit for the CCP certificate.

It's worth looking into if you plan to use the credit at Excelsior.

And yes, I've had this cert going back to the CDP days.

Could somebody give me some helps?

I am a computer programmer in Beijing, China, I want to take ICCP, I have taken "CORE IT skills" last month, but I got 63 only, so I failed in this exam, now I also have "Software Engineering" and "IT management" to take in this month, I hope I could pass these 2 examinations, but now in China, I can not find some useful learning materials, so could you give me some advise? Also I know "Bird Publications" has issued some materials and Q&A drill, but we can not buy it in China because it's very difficult to pay the bill, I am so eager for these Q&A drill, do you know what these Q&A drill talking about?

BTW, do you know other forums which talking about ICCP? I really want to know more about how to prepare ICCP?
