I'm sure you will find many programs of either MIS or MBA with MIS concentration. One degree program that is starting its first class in Fall 2006 is the MS in MIS at Florida State University. If you are a Florida resident, then this program will cost you about $7,500. The program consists of 8 core class and 3 classes for a specialized track. The program has two tracks -- a technical track and a managment track. If you are not a Florida resident, here are some other ideas:

    Auburn University $14,500
    Bellevue University $11,700
    Florida Institute of Technology $13,700
    Nova Southeastern University $15,300

I'm sure there are many more programs but this should get you started.

JoAnn is being modest and has assimilated a good number of programs linked to her name and under the D/L heading.

My favorite is the Marist program simply because you can be exempted from some classes and transfer in others making it only another 24 hours to complete. A nice compliment to an MBA.

Two of more heavily discussed school on this board offering programs that fit your bill are Touro University international and Northcentral university.

TUI offers and MBA with IT Management concentration and an MS in IT Management

The MBA requires 44 credit hours, $13,200 ($300 per credit hour)
    http://www.tourou.edu/cba/mba.htm

The MSITM requires 36 credit hours, $10,800 ($300 per credit hour)
    http://www.tourou.edu/cis/msitm.htm

TUI provides textbooks and materials in electronic format, and is included in the costs for the courses.

Northcentral offers an MBA with MIS specialization, 36 credit hours, $17,100 ($475 per credit hour)
    http://www.ncu.edu/university_information/dpro_det.asp?degree_program_id=19

    Books are an additional cost

Costs could vary with both schools depending on whether you qualify for special pricing/scholarships (for example, military, police, certain state residents, etc). As an additional caveat, Northcentral doesn’t participate in federal student aid.

    Best of luck.

No, no -- its not beneath me to hawk my own site. Its just that the thread starter was looking for IS Management or MIS focused degrees. I purposely leave off management focused degrees from my site. (But thanks for mentioning it!) I did however, know of a few MIS degrees and I especially wanted to bring up the brand new online degree program being started at FSU next fall.

While I'm at it, here is another interesting MIS program:

    University of Illinois, Springfield $7,600

Also, here is a Google search to find other programs. Just copy-and-paste the blue text into the Google search box:

masters OR MS "Management Information Systems" OR MIS distance learning OR education site:.edu

    Good luck!

Jigamafloo, thanks for the link to Touro. I have always dissed them in my mind because of the funny name. Sounds to me like a school that gets crunched in a Godzilla movie. However, they do have a nice and reasonable priced program.

Its not a bad looking program. I just don't like the fact that they don't use textbooks. Moveover, given the conservative sounding name of University of Illinois and their overall price -- for my money its the most interesting of all the programs we've listed so far. I just wonder how long the program will remain so cheap!

No problem, Sean. For the money, I think Touro's a contender. At only 9 classes for a Graduate degree, that's a consideration as well.

JoAnn does raise a good point about the Illinois program, though. If you're worrying about "name" recognition or something that may flag the degree as a Distance program, then for the money/recognition value UI Springfield does look tempting. Thanks to both of you.

Dave, if I was worried about name recognition, I would not have attended Bellevue :D. Yes, I agree with JoAnn that the Springfield program looks good, though I would have to bother with that pesky GMAT/GRE issue. Oh, well.

I got my MS-ITM from TUI. I liked the program and they are associated with Touro College . The company I work for hs their main office in NY and Touro is a very well known school.

I think the best university in this case is UNISA. The cheapest accredited one that you can find. Anyway, looking forward to seeing you again there.:D :D :D

Actually Sean, I rather enjoy telling folks that I'm a "Bellevue" alumni; I just don't add the university part. I usually add in a nervous tick and then mention that I'm feeling MUCH better......

Randell1234; thanks for adding the Touro input. I've been considering the MSITM, and given that I'm a military type, it would be essentially free.

    Take care guys!
