Please help me to find a good university:

    area: IT, IS, or MIT
    level: Master

distance learning, no campus requirement, below 20K.

Now I have Nova Southeastern and UMUC in my mind.

I have a hard time finding one.

What are your plans for life AFTER the degree?

While my list is intended for Computer Science students, you will find many IS/IT MS programs listed. Take a look at my web site.

    Capitol College?

Perhaps Capitol College? They're regionally accredited, and are pretty strong when it comes to technology, with Master's degrees in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Information Architecture, IT Systems Management, and Network Security. And total tuition for an online Master's there is just $12,300, well below your stated threshold.

I would second that vote. Consider all options, but Capitol has a very unique education delivery method of live lectures (recorded and available for later play back). In the 6 classes taken, I would rate 4 professors as excellent, 1 good and 1 horrible.

Join IEEE and get 10% off tuition (knocking down that previously mentioned figure).

    More on Capitol College

    I would second that vote.

I've just seen it mentioned here a few times, and when I went to their site to learn more I was impressed. I guess it's yet another thing I know thanks to this board. :)

Are the lectures downloaded, sent on CD-ROM/DVD, or your choice?

Didn't know that! Can you swing it where you're admitted and can get the student IEEE rate before you get assessed for tuition? :)

    Hi Steve,

    IEEE discount info
    http://www.capitol-college.edu/academicprograms/partnerships/ieee/index.shtml
Tip: Register for one class at Capitol, then call IEEE and get the student discount (it is considerable), then call Capitol back and have them apply your 10% off your bill.

The lectures use Centra. You must be there for the live lectures (once a week for the 8 week classes, once every other for the 16 week) in order to get your attendance / participation. If you want to review or if you miss a class (the profs are very understanding) you can download the lecture and play it back using Centra. This is very cool, especially if you travel. The files are only about 5 MB.

As my sig says, I am in the network security program and I love it. I have learned so many things ...
I just learned this last night, did you know those rolling black / brown outs in the north east were caused by a worm? No one talks about it ... but my prof did Tuesday night. I think the govt wants it on the DL.

Anyway, I love it. Also, the little stuff, like getting your administrative stuff done has always been a breeze.

If you have questions about anything, please let me know.

Thank you for all replies and reviewing this tread

Thank you very much for all the replies.

my profession now is a support engineer, working on Sun Solaris, Veritas and Brocade Switches. I have over 9 years experience in this field. Since I am working as technical support most of time, I have not experience at programming (only shell programming), so the course I am looking for is more on MIS or IS and not CS.

If you didn't at least look at my site because it was designed for CS majors then you are making a mistake.

    Hi david_ca,

I am doing my MS in IT from UMUC and am enjoying it. It has given me a wider view of IT ( I have been a programmer for nearly 12 years).

    Stock,

Am I able to complete all the credits without taking any programming subjects for MS IT program at UMUC?

I don't have any programming subjects in the course. They are general IT related courses like systems engineering, data communications & networks, wireless communications, LAN, WAN
