I have a BSc in ICT from Open University (www.open.ac.uk) and am looking for a MSc in the same and eventually a PhD. Is it a good idea to move to another UNI, or is it OK to stay with the same one?
really ? Hey hey ! you got a degree at open.ac.uk ! how is it though ? Is it difficult ? how much time have you spent on the entire course ? let me know ! thanks bye dav
Four years: Two hours a night during weekdays and four hours a day at the weekend and when on holiday. Difficult course, but highly enjoyed.
But you've studied 4 ys... but are you english ? I mean, you speak english as 1st language, don't you ? If so, i think I would take more time to get a Bsc, I am italian ! and so... why don't you get a MBA or a postgraduate qualification in open.ac ? Happy Easter ! dav
Hi I'm English! I wanted the BSc for three reasons: 1) To concrete my knowledge of Information and Communication Technology. 2) To update what I've learnt over the last 15 years. 3) To earn the rights to use the initials BSc (Hons) and ICT (Open) to gain fully membershipof the IEE.
Good boy ! But tell me... you think that Open.ac.uk is good university... I mean... once you live in England you can study in the most important and famous universities in the world. Tell me why you decided to pick up Open instaed of other Unis. You're a good boy, I agree with you; nowdays education is very important and if you have passion in one subject you have to do all your efforts to make it concrete, real and alive in your soul. I totally agree with your choice Bsc! davide
The OU allows me to study from home. I don't have time to study in evening schools or day release to college. Regards
You think that Distance learning is now considered important as traditional degrees with workshops, lessons etc... ? I know that now lot of people consider DL as the only chance to get a degree and I think that also employers and institution have changed their way of thinking about degree earned on the net. I personally think that it is a great source and we have to use it as much as possible. I checked degrees on Open.ac and I think that they're good and they are at high level professionally. The only thing I don't appreciate is the price... dav
I do think DL is as good as 'traditional' forms of learning. Many people I know simply only have the option of DL due to time constrains etc. The other thing that's is important is that units like the OU allow you to pay in installments, instead of having to stump up a full two or four years in one go. OU's also world wide known, whereas some local Uni's have names that sound like degree mill names.
