Do you think there is value in multiple Bachelors Degrees in Computer fields? Either Similar degrees, say 2 degrees in Information Technology or 2 different degree's say Information Technology and Computer Security and Forensics or Information technology and Data Communications Systems Technology (currently headed towards)? I was just wondering. I know that Work experience even in the low level, with a degree, along with Certifications from Major Vendors such as CompTIA, Microsoft, Cisco, Citrix, Sun, Oracle, Etc usually equals out to a great resume and portfolio, but does the inclusion of a second bachelors degree really matter as much? I am Currently Heading towards a Bachelors of Data Communications System Technology from ITT Tech, and am very interested in the Information Networking and Telecommunications Bachelors or Masters over at Fort Hays University. http://www.fhsu.edu/int/telecomm/courserequirements.shtml I would like to take that degree just for additional life training and education in my field of cellular telecommunications. Should I press on and go after a Master's degree in the same named program? I feel like the classes listed for this bachelors degree are very interesting and am very interested in pursuing them, but do not know if that is a waste of time if I already have a bachelors degree. Also, Sometimes I do not think I have the stuff to get through a Masters Degree. I have a friend that is going to the University of Illinois for an MBA who has a great work ethic and very smart person, but it is killing him to get through it. Sometimes I am not sure if I have that push to get through a program like that, but would love to cover the material in the Bachelors.
I'm finishing a Bachelor's at Charter Oak in Information Systems and wouldn't consider another undergraduate degree, especially a technical one. For a similar amount of time and money I can go on for a Master's -- that's an easy choice! Besides, I expect that once one has a Bachelor's, that particular checkbox for the HR department is satisfied. I plan to use my Master's as an opportunity to specialize. I like Fort Hays too, and probably will go for their Master's in instructional technology. If I were a hard core networking guy I'd consider that Australian Master's that let you transfer in MCSE 2003 as half the program. It's your choice, but surely there's a graduate program out there that will interest you more than another Bachelor's? -=Steve=-
An option might be either undergraduate or graduate certificates in some specialty or other. You get the concentrated study in the specialty without the additional requirements of a degree.
once a bachelor degree holder always a bachelor degree holder (provided is a recognized and legit one) . I would go for Masters after I am done with my BSCS.
Get a masters, forget about another bachelor unless it is in a field you need a specific major in to get into a grad school program. One BA/BS is probably all you'll ever be able to put down on an application anyway.
