    Hi Everybody,

I have been watching this forum to be able to join for a DL MIS or MBA program. The inputs in the various threads have been of great help for me to decide on going to USQ for my higher studies.

I have applied for MISY and MBAD (MIS and MBA) through the USQOnline website. But once i applied my status on the website has changed to "require further documentation". The problem is they sent me an automated message saying what are the various documents required for me to get admitted but i am unable to find a "person" to clarify a doubt about USQOnline documents required. I tried messaging them through the "contact us" but that moved me to international office of USQ and they have said that they dont deal with enrolments via USQOnline...

As such My questions are as follows :

    1. Can anybody please tell me what all they did to get enrolled with some emails of contact persons in USQOnline so that i can keep in touch with them personally to see my status.

    2. Can i fedex my documents to them ?? if so to what address.

    3. what are the semesters they take new admissions for ??

After submitting all the information online, admissions person e-mailed me with a fax number to fax all the documents. I sent her scanned copies and my admission was approved, later she sent USQ admission department's address to send all the certified copies.

    You can apply anytime.

    Semester start dates are
    Nov - 3rd sem
    Mar - 1st sem
    July - 2nd sem

As soon as your admission is approved you can start enrolling in any courses you want take.

E-mail me at [email protected], I will send you the fax number and the USQ address.

I can enroll for any courses , does that mean that i can enroll for a semester 3 course ?? the courses would be having prerequistes right ??

Does the online degree say from "USQOnline" or does it say just form "USQ". basically is the accredition of USQOnline as good as USQ itself.

When I have issues about enrollment, I always contact the DBA director directly, you might want to send your concerns with MBA director.

Yes you can enroll in any course, In november 3rd sem starts and you will be able enroll only to those course. Very few courses have prerequistes.

Diploma will not say what mode it was.

    Hi zeusjerry,
in april my wife and I graduated with a Master of Professional Computing from USQ. All documents only show USQ. The academic transcript lists all courses with grades, but does not show the mode of study. It simply states (on the back), that "A normal full time program load is 8 units for the year or 4 units in a semester".

USQ struggles to streamline its on- and offline operations.
    See
    http://www.usq.edu.au/usqonlinenews/default.htm
    for details

In case of trouble speak to the faculty staff.

    http://www.usq.edu.au/business/currentstudents/contactus.htm
    http://www.usq.edu.au/business/staff/default.htm.

We have taken courses through USQOnline, traditional distance education (latter enhanced by web/email) and USQConnect.

Most of the problems we came across have been solved by applying the australian "No worries" approach - after speaking with faculty personnel.

    Good Luck

    Thanks friedrich and rajyc!

Its pretty valuable information for me. So far the university looks great to me .

I am not sure if you guys had looked at some other Australian Universities like Deakin University, University of new England , Charles Sturt University etc for its DL programs.

My views are that USQ seems to be the most structured for DL programs . Moreoever i feel the remaining universities are way behind in their DL delivery .

friedrich , whats your opinion on it as i am not sure how a traditional DL will work while you are staying Abroad in a compeltely different time zone ..

It would be great if you guys could give me some opinion about other Australian Universities on how it compares with USQOnline for its value.... as far as "Excellent university/Good University / V. Good University / Medicore University / BAD" ratings..

One bothering point which i found abt USQ is that it has been in existence for 32 years but has been a University only from 1990. My question would be , Do i need to bother about this fact ?? or is USQ's degree value makes up for being a young university...

    Hey Zeus,

I live in US. I never had any problems. USQ makes arrangement for the proctered exam close to where I live (less than 5mins drive). I am about to finish my third course, and I am happy with the way it is going. This winter I am planning to shift the gear, I wil try to take two courses.

USQ is a good university, u need not bother about the age of the university. Look at Microsoft, it is not even 20 years old but rules the industry and it is a house hold name.

My decision to choose USQ is solely based on the cost.

    Hi Zeus,

Time zones: We had problems with Semester 3 offerings (Winter in Europe, Beach time in Australia) - irrespective of study mode. But the Faculty of Business is very large and has many offshore students, this should bring more S3 courses.

Traditional DL: Most of our USQ courses had a study guide leading through an additional standard textbook. You get all this material at the start of the semester. There are always web sites to accompany theses materials. Correspondence (including assignments) are usually done via email. So little "Traditionality" here.

Ratings, value etc: I don't have any experience with other australian universities. The top ratings go to the big-eight club of campus style universities like UNSW (Sydney), Uni Melbourne, UQ Brisbane. There have been discussions on USQ's quality on this board. Do a search and afterwards search for the sources of the comments. The baseline seems to be that australian universities are closer together than in the US.
There are of course several other excellent MBA programs on the market (e.g. Heriott Watt).

USQ took the chance to transform a young, small university to a global provider of knowledge. After streamlining their procedures their chances should be even higher.

    Go for it

    Thanks a lot guys.

I have decided to go for it. Thanks to Raj, I got hold of one of the counsellors and now they are absolutely quick in their replies.

Thanks a lot friedrich and Rah for valuable comments. Would post when my admission gets approved.
