Hello everyone After several months of waiting and visiting this site, I decided to sign up for my first tests. I'm planing on "banking" my testing credits before enrolling in the Excelsior CIS program. I have one question, should I take the CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature Exam with or without the essay? I already took an English Composition course when I was in community college. If it's not necessary, then I'd prefer taking the test without the essay. Thanks for your help, Brandon
CLEP Analyzing and Interpreting Literature Exam does not come with an essay option. The English Comp exam has the option. If you that the English Comp exam, take the essay option. I ended up taking that exam twice; once with essay and once without.
Hello Randell, Thanks for your reply. But, according to the clep web page there is an optional essay section with this test. excerpt from page: There is also an optional essay section that can be taken in addition to the multiple-choice exam. The essay section is graded by the institution that requests it. Contact the school where you would like to receive credit for your CLEP exam to see if it requires the optional essay section for this exam. http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/clep/ex_ail.html I would like to know if Excelsior "requires" the optional essay section. Thanks again, Brandon
Excelsior does not require essays on any CLEP or DSST test. They will accept Eng Comp with or without essay, but only for 3 credit hours, and not to fulfill the WE requirement (but your Eng Comp class does fulfill it, as you know). Tony
You are right, I never knew...sorry. I transfer my Analyzing and Interpreting Literature to COSC and they did not require an essay.
