Hi - Been lurking and looking up information on here for a few weeks, have chosen COSC for degree completion. Now I have a question for anyone who's taken the testing route for credits, especially GRE... I was thinking I'd do a business concentration despite not having any transferrable credits in business (I have 64 credits, eons old, 2/3 are liberal arts and 1/3 lab sciences) because I have 20+ experience in the field, but now I notice COSC gives a boatload of credits for GRE Computer Science test. I've spent 5 recent years in IT (apps development) and am looking to find someone who has taken the CS GRE to share complexity, suggestions (avoid it?) -- I might switch to CS concentration if the GRE seems do-able.
    Thanks.

I thought about that too, but...

I thought about that one too, since I have several years of experience with networking, system administration, database design, and web development. I thought maybe the Computer Science GRE would be a quick way of getting a significant part of my Charter Oak concentration in Information Systems out of the way.

Boy was I wrong! Unfortunately, very little of what I knew had anything to do with the exam. That test looks more appropriate for people who understand the real underpinnings of computer science, e.g. assembler, electrical engineering, and the like.

I ended up deciding to take other examinations instead, e.g. CLEP and DANTES. Studying for the CS GRE would have been a real stretch -- in many areas I'd have been starting from scratch.

I'd be interested in your opinion, though. Can you check out a practice test and reply?
