    Hi Everyone,

Currently i was planning to enroll into Excelsiors.I needed your peoples suggetions & help for following concerns,

    1) I am from pakistan,Currently work & live in Italy. Is someone here on this forum from Italy enrolled in Excelsiors, as i need information for taking CLEPs,Dantes & ECE's in Italy.

    2) I have some (CS - undergraduate) credits frin AIOU Pakistan. I got to evaluate them from ECE. What i should submit them to explain mine Sylabus outline,as i have nothing with me here in italy apart from mine semester result transcripts.

    3) I will certainly needed some 50 to 60 credits completing mine degree, will it be better idea to take some CLEPs,Dantes,ECE's tests before enrolling, so that i start with more credits & may save extra annual fees(450$). But how i will get know what tests i should be taking for mine future degree ?

    Thanks,
    Usman

I am not in Italy but thought I reply because I am also in the process of enrolling in Excelsior. I believe you want to join their BSCIS program ?

I am not sure if CLEP and/or DSST exams are available in Italy but you may want to check their site or call them for list of exam centers.

I think the closest one would be England. You can also do search on this forum for information on test sites that people have been able to take tests at.

I have my education from UK and I am in the process of getting my credits evaluated by ECE. They require detailed course syllabus for them to do the correct evaluation. So you should contact AIOU and get course syllabus if you want to get the credits which represent the actual worth of your courses.

It is definitely a better idea to take CLEP, DANTES and/or ECE to and start accumulating credits before enrolling. You should first get your prior education evaluation done and then see what courses you lack and start testing out. Check Excelsior website and download BSCIS program documentation and map what you already have and what you need.

    Hope this helps. Good luck

There have been some extensive threads on the availability of CLEP in Europe if you can search for them. If I remember correctly, the only current CLEP testing sites are in England and, if it's begun, in Switzerland.

RE: DANTES This is a military type exam series. Are you near a US Military base? They may be able to give you some info.
(My brother is more familiar with all this, but he is with the 101 Airborne and is pretty busy right now.)

Thanks ethch & everyone for your kind posts. Yes definately it helped me, i now decided to first got my evaluation from ECE & then taking some CLEPs before enrollng into Excelsiors. As england seems to only option for CLEP, i decided to travel england from italy every three month and taking couple or more exams every trip. But can you please tell me way to contact MST in england. Is MST Cooperating , do they give you dates you request for, as if i travel from italy , i will have to take into account my holidays from office, getting visa from embassy, low cost air, finding some low cost alternatives for living there. So managing all this at once would be only possible if they give you date of exam you request for. Will they ??

    Thanks,
    Usman

You should also check on their website if there are any new centers in Europe, maybe some that are closer to you. Give CLEP and DANTES a call if you need to. sometimes their website is not updated with new information. Also do a search on this forum for this information.

as such I dont have any dealing with MST. I have taken exams in North America. You should call them to find out their procedures. also apart from CLEP and DANTES you should check out Excelsior's distance learning database and do a search for cheap courses <=$300. You will find many colleges that offer distance courses that you can take.. Considering it will cost you to travel (hotel and other costs), distance courses may turn out to be cheaper for you.

    Thanks etech,
I will be conatcting CLEP & MST and will plan next. Yesterday i ordered some couple of books for CLEP from Amazon first time and found adding shipping cost it turns out to be expensive. Do there exist some alternatives. I mean some network of students for exchanging books and selling old book ? something like that ?

I, like many here, have quite a number of CLEP, GRE, and various course study/text books. If you were to post your needs here, we could probably use the 'pm' function on this board to arrange some sort of exchange deal.

also at amazon some used books are available. try to purchase the used ones to save cost. Also check ebay for availability of such books.

Let us know how it goes.. you can always PM me or send me email at [email protected]

    Best Regards.
