Can somebody explain the difference between Master of Information Systems and MS in Management Information Systems.
The way I understand it is the following: A MS/IS a technical degree. (for those pursuing a technical career) A MS/MIS is a business degree focused on management. (for those pursuing a management career) I am pursuing a MS/MIS as I prefer the business decisions and staff management vs. the technical implementation and architecting. Hope this helps. Boomer
I believe Boomer is correct. Take a look at the University of Illinois Springfield online MIS http://online.uis.edu/about.html Then take a look at the Florida Institute of Technology MS/M-IS. http://segs.fit.edu/academics/degrees/ the UIS degree is a more "technical" tract. I'm with Boomer on the management. As others have explained elsewhere it is costly and difficult to maintain technical edges.
