With all the offshore outsourcing I have decided NOT to continue my education in IT. I have decided to do what I shoulda done in the first place...Nursing.

Iam soooooo sick and tired of the companies screwing people over, so screw it, I'm going to do something meaningful.

I'll be dammed if im gonna continue my education in an industry that is sending good tech jobs overseas. Can't tell me these companies have to send jobs overseas like this to make money...they are making plenty of money,,,its just greed,,,sending these good IT jobs overseas is just as bad as the ENRON scam.

So, i have decided to choose a career that will also give me a sense of making a difference and peace of mind.

    screw IT!!!!!!!!!
    goodluck all

A good friend of mine just received her RN at age 47. She has a good job working for the government but decided to make the change. I cannot believe the number of good job offers she is now getting.

    Good luck!

Heh, screw IT!! screw it.. I get it (I thought it was funny atleast).

Hey man, your not escaping the corporate greed just by NOT pursuing IT. It's probably in every industry. Companies' MO comes down to one thing.. profit. The more profit the better. They don't care about poor john smith the IT guy and the fact that he has been laid off because he made too much money.

Car manufacturers do the same thing w/ cheap labor in Mexico right? Semiconductor companies find cheap labor in China. Bottom line, you will find outsourcing in any company you work for.

Is it right? My opinion? No, of course not. I think it is very un-American and, Lord knows, it's hurting our job market. Then again, I think A LOT of what companies do is wrong; it doesn't mean they are going to change.

There are things you can do with a degree in computers that don't strictly relate to IT type jobs dealing company networks and such. Just have to find them I guess. Instead, of looking in the IT catagory on Monster.com or Careerbuilder, try look at engineering, aviation, medical, etc. I think there are more jobs in these catagories that require "field" work than sitting in a cubical staring at a computer screen.

    Hope this helps,
    Bill

You have to make decisions that impact your life in a positive way. If nursing is your call............then go for it. The IT industry has become a "screw you screw me" nightmare. What was once a highly respected profession has now become a horror show for many IT graduates.
Nurses and paramedics will always be in demand. Future IT professionals will require plenty of patience because the lines at the unemployment office are getting incredibly longer.
