    My application for admission to MS in IT at USQ was rejected, because I have a BS degree in non IT related field. I have about 8yrs of working experience in IT.

    Please see this message I got from USQ...
    =============================================
    However, we would approve an application from you for entry to the Postgraduate Certificate in Information Systems program.

    Upon successful completion of four subjects within this program you would then be approved to transfer to the MISY program with full credit.
    ============================================

    Please advise me, shall I go ahead and do the Postgraduate Certificate in Information Systems program???

    Do you think they will admit me upon sccessful completion of 4 subjects. Has any one had this kind of situation before.

    Thanks.

    Yes, this is quite routine. If you do OK in the Certificate (4 courses) you will certainly be admitted to the Diploma or Master's.

    USQ's IT offerings are very confusing.

    Faculty of Business:
    Master of Information Systems
    Master of Information Technology (Research)
    Master of Information Technology (Professional)

    Faculty of Sciences:
    Master of Computing
    Master of Professional Computing
    Master of Information Technology (Professional)

    There are two programs called "Master of Information Technology (Professional)" and they are completely different: one (MITP) offered by Faculty of Business and the other (MPIT) offered by Faculty of Sciences.

    I had applied for Masters in Information Systems. Not MPIT, I think USQ refers to it as MISY.

    Admission for MISY requires an undergraduate degree in IT. MITP does not.

    So the decision makes some sense.

    I think if you like the program then there is no harm in getting admission to the certificate. It will give you a certificate and a Master credentials. Those courses completed would later be transfered to the Masters program as mention in their reply. But still double check with them just to be sure.

    Just in case, the MISY (and the Certificate and
    Diploma) are also offered through USQOnline
    http://www.usqonline.com.au
    which is cheaper than external mode.

    At USQ You can swap modes (external, online,
    on-campus), so if You happen to be in Toowoomba, QLD You can do some courses there. It is a nice but quiet city.

    Yes, no worries

    No, I do the MProfComp (and I am happy with it)

    Good Luck

    Other possibility is to register in the MBA with IS specialization. This program doesn't require you to have a degree in IT.
