    Hello,

Does someone know what TESC does currently charge for its examinations? Is there a surcharge if the exams are taken offsite through a proctor? Somehow I was unable to find this information in their catalog or on their website.

    Thank you,

    Dennis Siemens

Hi, Enrolled students 26 dollars per credit. Non-enrolled 56. If you are enrolled in the comprehensive tuition program you make take 5 at no cost. Hille

Doesn't the comprehensive tuition include unlimited TECEP exams and Portfolio Assessment during the one year enrollment, or did they change it?

Hello, I couldn't find the reference on the website and don't have the current catalog. I believe five tests were included in the comprehensive tuition. Tuition and fees were only current until 6/30/2002. I imagine there will be a fairly large increase next week. Portfolios are currently unlimited but I have doubts that will continue. Comprehensive portfolios have a quicker turnaround time due to no additional billing. Anyone waivering on enrollment should make a quick decision and enroll tomorrow via internet and save a little money. Hille

Here's the link to the current tuition and fees. It does say that comprehensive tuition covers unlimited TECEP exams during the enrollment period. I wonder if the comprehensive tuition plan will change though when the new rates are announced.

Good Morning, I think it is safe to say tuition will be going up 7/1. My guess is between 9 and 13 percent. TECEPS are attractive because they can be taken in your local library. Although they are more expensive then CLEP tests the ability to schedule a test and take it in a quiet room at the library is worth something more. The librarian takes care of the mailing. Have a good weekend. Hille

    tesc website and costs

The tesc website under "tests" says the 2001-2002 tesc student rate is $26 per hour and the non-tesc rate is $52 per hour. Hillie is right that the costs should be going up. But a 10% increase is huge so if it goes up just over 10% it woulc be about $30 per hour in-house and $60 for non-tesc students.
    All the best!

Thanks folks, for the information. I've checked the link to the website; However, due to this website it seems that the TECEPs for enrolled students, per credit, are $49 and for non-enrolled students are $98, which is a little bit different from the amounts mentioned above; Or do I, possibly, confuse something?

    Thanks again,

    Dennis Siemens

Hi Dennis, The website has changed this week. Check the date on top July 1, 2002. This is the start of the new years cost at TESC. I don't have the old catalog anymore. Perhaps Gary can pinpoint the percentage of increase in tuition. I thinks it's changed in the last 48 hours. Hille

I can see why people say tesc is confusing

Thanks for finding the tuition page.
The testing page refers to $26 fee in-house and $52 for out-house students. It looks like I misread the page. This appears to be the extra cost to have the test administered. you still have to pay for the credit (I think). Or else this is the fee to have the test administered off campust?
Is it possible there are 3 charges for a tesc test. $26 administration, $49 for the test, and then a charge for the credit?
I think I'm out of my league in the nicle and dime stuff of TESC.
It makes CLEP and Dantes sounds fairly simple.
    All the best!

It looks like they are raising the fee for TECEP exams from $26/credit for enrolled students to $49/credit, and from $52/credit for non-enrolled students to $98/credit. What an increase! Maybe they're trying to make the comprehensive tuition plan more attractive; I don't know how else they can justify such a huge jump. The CLEP and DANTES exams definitely seem preferable now, and non-enrolled students can actually take courses from some schools for less than the TECEP exams cost!

They must have just changed the tuition page today - when I posted that link last night it still had last year's rates.

the more i look, the less i know

I bow to your knowledge of tesc. When I look through the website it looks to me like there is a test administratin fee, a cost for the test, and a cost for tuition. That used to be called nickle and dmiing one.
I hope you are right that $49 covers the in-house exam, administration and credit.
    All the best!

But what does the expression mean "per credit attempted". Does it perhaps mean that if you take an exam worth 3 credits you pay the fee three times as much as stated on the website?

    per hour or per credit

usually the per hour or per credit means that if one hour/credit is $49 then the 3 hour or 3 credit cost is 3x49=$147.
so it sounds like that is the minimum cost for a tesc test for a 3 college credit course. However, as I have said, it looks like there other costs too. I am no expert on tesc.
    all the best!

Hello, I looked at the cost of TECEPS again and found it upsetting. This will eliminate students that should be encouraged. I will be checking out the rationale of the increase and will update the forum if I get any answer. Hille

    .

Their tuition and cost page, in general, discourages me. They seem like they would be INCREDIBLY expensive if you didn't have all your credits prepared for transfer once you go into a program. Its a shame too because they have alot of programs I am interested in. :/

    BR,

    Bill
