    TECEP & ECE questions

Hi all, I was wondering whether TECP and ECE require test takers to register and enroll in one of their ''plans'' before they could take exams or one could just register and pay for ONLY the exams and take tests. To put it in other words, do test takers pay additional fees aside the test registration fees to either TESC or Excelsior for any of those exams? I understand that Excelsior has a partnership with Pearson V that allows international test takers to take tests online outside the US. Does TESC has such arrangement? I couldn't find any info regarding whether international test takers could take TECEP outside US. I also couldn't find the testing price regarding TECEP. Thanks for your answers.

You don't need to be enrolled to take either one. I know there are other people here who can tell you more about signing up for a TECEP. I've never tried to figure out how you sign up. TECEPs are $36 per credit hour for non-residents. You have to find a proctor, and I believe TESC will mail them a paper exam. It's very easy to register for Uexcel ECEPs through Excelsior's website.

Sanantone, thank you for your usual kind response to my queries. I now have a better understanding- thanks to you. :) I was seeing both ECE and TECEP as alternatives to CLEP for international test takers who could not find a center in their country or countries close to them.

Sanantone, I stumbled on this TECEP thread where two different test takers claimed they paid over 300 dollar to seat a 3 credit TECEP exam. Did You Take TECEP?

That thread is 9 years old. The TECEPs are $36 per credit hour or $108 for a 3 credit exam. You can call them or email info@tesc.edu. I am 100% positive they will tell you that TECEPs are $36 per credit hour for out-of-state students.

This is from Charter Oak 's website, but this was when TECEPs were lowered to $33 per credit hour in 2011.

Thanks, Sanantone for your clarification. I knew the thread was old but it seems there is no TECEP link where I could find the price- hence my asking again. TECEP is a great deal. :)
