    Discouraged

Studied How to Crack The Clep, well sorta, and took my first test in the book. I got 50 out of 100 right. Geeze. Anyone know of a good online practice test?
Although i have my clep for Eng scheduled in 2 weeks i am wondering if I should just take Straighterline.
Anyone have a suggestion? And does Liberty automatically let you take them if you ask? They are 40 day courses so that would allow me to get my core out of the way to take the rest of my LU courses.
Is that a good enough rationale?

    Thanks

You are better off studying for the specific test you want (Comex and REA Guides have always worked for me) and just take the test. You might be surprised at how well you will do. Start with History I or Social Sciences or something like that.

I need English 1&2, math, science and history . The all seem daunting. I'll look into those but I hate wasting $100 if I'm clearly that unprepared.

Use the Comex book, practice writting 5 paragragh essays on topics you find at random and you will do well. History I was easy with the REA guide. Remember, you need a score of 50 to pass.

I checked out the books listed in the test guide when I tested out of many course. The texts were all equivalent to the text books used at any college so I just bought used text books. I just did some speed reading and sample chapter exams as my prep. If you normally do well on multi-choice test that helps. For essay exams Randells advice is solid.

The answer is to prepare. As mentioned, use a different book. I've never used COMEX or Crack the CLEP but I've used REA like crazy. I passed all my CLEPs but 1 (totally underprepared) which amounted to about 60 credits.

For what it's worth, you could FAIL this CLEP exam 4 times before it's cheaper to use Straighterline. Just sayin.

Thanks everyone. I did get a high school book and retook the test in the back of the Crack The Clep. Got 60 out of 100 so at least I don't feel totally ignorant now. I have another English Clep at the library so the tests in there will be new and that will probably be the most accurate.
My daughters taking the SAT the same morning of my CLEP, I forgot how hard it is to be a student!

Here is a great site to help with APA formatting - http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/

A quote must include page number, if it is just a source it needs to include the (LastName, year)

You are welcome. There are some more rules like direct quotes over 40 words need to be indented and not double spaced...blah-blah-blah.

I assume that is a 'pass' at your school, so a pass is a pass and credit in the bank!

    Welcome to CLEP-land.
