I will be taking 2 PRAXIS II exams this saturday and I need any and all advice on these. I live in NJ so I need to pass the Content Knowledge 0014 and I want to teach Middle school Math so I will also be taking that exam 0069. I have been teaching 6 middle school classes full time now since April and I have had very little time to prepare for these Praxis exams. I am wondering how they compare to a CLEP or DSST? I have looked at a book on the content knowledge and I think I can pass that one. I am more worried about the math, I have not finished taking all my math courses yet(I need 2 more ALEKS when I find 2 min), but I have been teaching 2 prealgebra classes. So PLEASE ANY advice or suggestions on these would be greatly appreciated.
Hi Linda - In understand the anxiety but I'm sorry, you're 72 hours from taking the exam and it's only now that you're asking for advice? OK, under the circumstances here's the best advice I've got: sleep well the night before the exam. Best of luck.
I took the Social Studies praxis a number of years ago. I didn't study for it because I figured if I didn't know the content at that point, I wasn't going to bother with it. I passed, and have been teaching for five years. My wife took that Elementary Education praxis, 0014, to obtain highly qualified status. She's a special education teacher and said the test was a piece of cake. I can't say anything about the middle school math test, but it can't be that difficult because it doesn't have all of the high school math stuff. High school math has calculus and stats, which I haven't done since high school. Just remember, if you don't pass, you could always try it again, and that time you'd have an idea of what the test would be like. But be positive! I'm sure you'll pass! -Matt
Thank you for the advice. Yes I know I did not leave much time for study, but I just finished my BA 2 weeks ago. I have taken on a lot at one time, but when an oppertunity like this opens up you can't say no. I did cram some and I took the exams today, I think I might have passed the General Knowledge. The Middle School Math was somewhat difficult the hardest part was I got so involved I lost track of time and 2 hours flew by. I just have to wait now 3-4 weeks to know how I did.
I had looked at Peterson, but only pointed out that they did not have exam of practice. I went back and treated on your post office. This e-book really had an exam of practice short and I took it. Now I must just wait __________________ Studying for next goal - Master's of Science Degree Useful Resources Praxis II and test prep TExES study guide and ETS test preparation
Hello Lindagerr if you have no time to pass the PRAXIS II exams, their are many tips and secretes to pass the exam very easily.we provide two video free for pass the exam.
Since I posted the original post almost a year ago I don't think secretes to pass are going to help now anyway LOL Just incase anyone else takes these in the future I did find some good study guides. I passed the General Knowledge (014) with recognition of excellence I missed the Math exam by 5 points the first time but passed it and the middle school science exam the next month. Now if all the teachers werent being let go I might be able to find a job.
For those of you who don't know, the Praxis II is the content area test that all future teachers are required to take to get certification. Mine was in mathematics. It covers quite an extensive amount of material. It can surely be difficult for some of us that's the reason there are lot of us people who were giving it for the second, third, fourth, and even fifth time. But it’s all about how efficiently to prepare for it by devoting enough effort and time in it.
