TESC only does these pass/fail, right? So, I'm guessing all I need to do is pass. I've been told for sure I can take DANTES Organizational Behavior and CLEP Educational Psych. I'm thinking I can also make a case for DANTES Fundamentals of Counseling. I'm just curious what the best way to study for these are? I have the GRE subject Psych study guide.
The DSST study resources are shown on the DSST fact sheets: http://www.getcollegecredit.com/downloads/factsheets/Organizational%20Behavior.pdf http://www.getcollegecredit.com/downloads/factsheets/Fund%20of%20Counseling.pdf You can download the CLEP Exam guide here for $10. Product listing
The best sites for exam prep are 1) Free Clep Prep.com This has a list of FREE resources for studying for each CLEP and DSST, broken down by content area. Including directions as to how you can get Peterson's practice tests for FREE! I took CLEP info systems and computer applications using only this site to help me, and I got a 69/80, WELL above passing. 2) InstantCert.com: Leader in Online CLEP and Dantes Exam Preparation This is not free, but very inexpensive, $20 a month for unlimited use of study guides and practice tests for a wide range of exams. This is a great resource if the site listed above isn't enough for you. The forum section of this site, Degree Forum is SUPERB, it has a community of test takers who will give you all the guidance you need, including free study guides for specific exams. 3) Since CLEP are basic tests, you will not need any specific textbook to study. Your local library is your absolute best source for learning your subject. My only study for the Sociology CLEP was an intro to Sociology text book I found at my library, and the free Peterson's practice tests I got from free-clep-prep. I got a 79/80 on that CLEP, nearly perfect.
I agree with Maniac Are you a TESC student? If so there is a list of the exams and what class they give credit for here Undergraduate Ways to Earn Credit - Thomas Edison State College - acalog ACMS
Thanks Linda. I spoke with an advisor today and for some reason was told I couldn't take the DANTES Substance Abuse, but I see it as an option on the link you provided. I may ask them about that one again too
I'm taking my first online class with them now, plus I need to take Experimental online, and probably Social Psych, so between those and the other B&M psych classes that will give me a GPA and if I can take the rest by tests at this point I would be a happy camper.
Hello, for Social Psych (which I will have to take one day soon, myself), here are some very inexpensive options: Excelsior's Social Psychology ECE Exam LSU Independent Study Strange, it seems to be a lower-level class (PSYC 2040), whereas it tends to be upper-level elsewhere. Both of these will give you grades... however, I'm not sure if TESC will accept ECE's grades, or if they just put it as pass/fail on your transcript.
Thank you. I might look into that, but then I'd have to take another class, because the Social Psych at TESC is 6 credits. I'm starting to feel stressed, as I need to finish up in March, making tests much more attractive I know what you mean about the different levels too. I had a B&M Abnormal Psych that is considered upper divsion most everywhere else, except where I took it I really wish I had the time and money to follow some of the advice on this board earlier. LSU looks greats, as does University to Wyoming.
