Hey! Im thinking of taking the excelsior nursing 8 credit exams. I am looking to work towards a BALS from excelsior. I wanted to take a GRE exam but I need the letter grades to raise my overall GPA because right now it is a 2.7. The exams I am interested in are

    Adult Nursing
    Maternity Nursing
    Mental/Psychiatric Nursing

I am wondering if anybody has any experience with these tests and their difficulty. I dont have any prior nursing knowledge but im sure reading a text, I could figure it out.

    Thank you.

I don't have any personal experience with the ECE nursing exams, however, I'm sure you can find the answer at the Excelsior College Study Group. It's a huge forum mainly for EC nursing students:

Thank you for the suggestion of that site, as I have never come across it before. The only thing is that it is difficult to find information on these exams because they are not for nursing credit, they are for liberal arts credit so the nursing forum does not have any information on them.

The exams are the same whether you use them for nursing credit or liberal arts credit. I just did a quick check over at the EC Study Group forum and found tons upon tons of info on all the nursing exams. Everything you are asking for is there. Did you even bother to look?

I have not taken the exams, however, I'm a pre-nursing student. I don't think anyone here (at least since I joined) has taken these exams or I would have noticed.

My thoughts are only this- the content is probably doable. For example, I volunteered as a doula for 4 years, and have a strong interest in pregnancy/birth/postpartum. I'm sure content-wise, I'd have no trouble with the exam. I suspect, however, that there will be a lot of nursing in the exam, and that's what will kill you as a non-nurse.
Those subjects are 3rd and 4th semester subjects, so simple things like writing care plans and anatomy/physiology will be huge and expected base knowledge. If you have taken AP2, however, I'd say go for it.
