I am new to the CLEP and DANTES and after my final 4 bachelor level classes, I need 10 associate level classes.

    Just a few questions...

    1. From what I know, DANTES is now available to civilians. Is there a testing center near Shaw AFB or perhaps Shaw is a testing base?

    2. How would I schedule a test if I am an hour or better away from a testing center? Take 5 tests at once or what?

    3. What are the easiest 10 CLEP and DANTES to take? I am great with logic and anything business. Match is not a strong point and my science is rusty. I am good with simple math, so business stats might be easy.

    An unrelated question...

What do employers think about an online degree? I heard I will be getting crap for that for the rest of my career :/

The DSST website is your best bet for finding test sites
5 at once wouldn't be my choice. From feedback I have read, 2 is OK. I take 1.
Easy is all about what you know before beginning to prepare. The computers tests have been easy for me, but someone else might have a different experience. I would expect a motivated adult with access to a library and the Web to find these readily approachable:

    Sociology CLEP
    Psychology CLEP
    Management CLEP
    Information Systems CLEP
    Marketing CLEP
    Business Law CLEP
    Analyzing and Interpreting Literature CLEP
    Organizational Behavior DSST
    Intro to Business DSST
    Criminal Justice DSST

Online education is becoming quite common, but there are always going to be people who don't approve of what they don't know about. On this and other boards, it's been suggested that University of Phoenix has developed a bit of a stigma among recruiters. They have a ton of students, so their graduates are going to enjoy a range of success levels and we are most likely to hear the horror stories. I think the most sensible advice I have encountered is if you have little experience and thus are going to rely quite a lot on your education in obtaining a good job, then you want the best name-brand education you can afford. If you have experience, then it's enough that your school is accredited.

    Hope this helps

    Some easy ones are:
    CLEP English w/essay
    DANTES Ethics
    DANTES MIS
    DANTES Here’s to you Health
    DANTES Tech Writing
    DANTES Intro to Business
    DANTES Intro to Computing
    DANTES Intro to Criminal Justice
    DANTES Intro to Law Enforcement
    CLEP Analy and Interp Lit
    CLEP History I
    CLEP General Math
    CLEP Sociology

I used to go to the military base and take 2 or 3 in a day. I would look at the military passing rates for CLEP/DANTES/ECE exams and started with the exams with the highest passing rates that I knew something about. Start with those tests for easy credit and make them fit into a degree plan.

Thanks! I just want to be careful that I don't fail any tests... It costs quite a bit to take those tests. Thanks for the info, your courses line up pretty good with my own list.

And if you do fail, with the CLEPs you have to wait 6 months before you can retake them...

Not sure about the DSSTs though.

I'm sure everyone has different opinions; however, I've been recruited by several top head hunters in more than one industry and my degrees are nontraditional (Big 3). I've also been consulted on many management and executive interviews and the method a degree was earned is at the bottom of criteria being considered, if considered at all.

I've passed the aforementioned head hunters' education verification with my degrees and that's all that has ever really mattered. I can only speak for myself, but I've never experienced and friction because I didn't attend the customary 4 years of classroom teaching to earn my degree.
