    Hi folks!

I received my evaluation from TESC. Could anyone with experience suggest the next few CLEP or FEMA exams I should take? I'd hate to waste time by picking the wrong ones or an inefficient route and a LOT of you have experienced this process. My goal is to minimize taking classes at TESC and having to pay as little cash to them as possible. I have 12 years as a Senior Research Associate in the biotech/pharmaceutical research industry so this BA degree is a formality, to quickly get me to a place where I can pursue my Masters, ultimately.

Thank you....THANK you very kindly and I hope everyone had a stellar holiday season!

Reading this above, does TESC claim I only have 48 credits remaining or am I reading that incorrectly up at the top of the evaluation?

I think you have that backwards

I think they say you have 48 credits done and need 72 more. This is just my opinion, but do you need the degree in biology? I have over 30 years experience in a laboratory and I am just going for my BA in Natural Science and Mathematics at TESC I already have 39 credits through testing and I have 24 planned in the next 5 months. With your plan I don't see nearly as many test that will apply.

    This is just my 2c

Hi Linda!! Nice to see you over here :)

There are no CLEPs for the major of biology, however, you can use them for gen eds like any degree. You need labs, and lots of em. Start looking for sciences with labs, and you'll be able to find many online. Your local community college might also be an option for you. I am taking my online science labs here: www.ocean.edu which I love.

For what it's worth, I graduated from TESC and started with them back in late 2006- the bio degree is one of (if not the) most difficult to obtain. I don't mean that it's hard, I mean that it's a red tape hell. Linda's suggetion of Natural Science is good- but as Linda will tell you, they also just revised that plan a few months back making it (much) more tricky too.

For those who want a science degree- TESC is not the place to start. It's really the place to take your pile of hanging credits and transfer in. It can be done, but it's going to take a lot of planning. You are going to have to find a college to take these sciences, and once you get out of 100/200 level, that's not going to be easy. Good luck to you!

Can I make a suggestion? If you do want your biology degree from TESC, don't enroll yet. Within the math area, you have to complete through calc 2, which is going to take a while since you have not yet started any college maths. Don't pay TESC's yearly fee until you are within a year or two of graduating.

Also, just a side note, I know TESC says you need 6 credits of AP, however, you need 8. You need both AP1 and AP2 WITH lab- and if you take TESC's non-lab AP for 6, then whoever you try and register for micro with isn't going to accept it as meeting the prereq requirement. There are missing prereqs in TESC's plan that are not obvious and not included. Just do your homework.

This is very good advice - earn as many credits as you can before enrolling.

This is good advice for anyone considering TESC, COSC, or Excelsior degrees.

    Thanks for the welcome

Hi Jennifer, I just joined here last night. I have decided I will finish the 26 credits I need and get my BA by the end of June so I can Graduate in Sept. and walk in October. So I need to keep my eye on the ball and keep focused. I thought maybe all the higher degrees here might be the incentive I need.

Kinda thank you for chiming in, sorry for the delayed respobse.

Like yourslelf, I have many years of industry experience working in a lab and at this point I don't NEED the biology degree. I just want something that sort of makes sense, has some correlation with my resume.

Could you please...PLEASE guide me through the natural science degree map based on my TESC transcripts from above?

Specifically I REALLY would like to test out of as many classes for 1) Avoiding a huge degree bill$$ by going through TESC the whole way and to expedite this process as quicly as possibly.

You can private message me if you wish, I'll even give you my email so we can be as thorough as possible.

Again....I would REALLY appreciate your attention and all effort!
