Hi Guys I wanted to see if anyone here has had college credit through Aleks and if anyone knows if I can take a Aleks course that can cover my requirement for a Stats class that I need, Any Information will be very welcome thanks
Aleks has 3 ACE approved Stats courses (Intro to Stats, Business Stats, & Stats for Behavioral Sciences.) They're pretty much the same course, some of the questions are worded differently (the Business courses use business examples in the word problems and so on.) The transcript will come from ACE, so if you school will accept ACE credit courses, you should be good, I'd check with them first. The classes are recorded as p/f because you only have to get to 70% in the course to get ACE credit, and they don't show a % or grade on the ACE transcript.
I received college credit for ALEKS College Algebra, Intro to Stats and Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences. I had these classes transcripted through ACE, then sent to Charter Oak. My son had Intermediate Algebra accepted by Southern Nazarene University. If you'll do a search for ALEX, you'll find quite a few discussions about it here.
hey I go to umuc and I called ALeks to see how it works but only got a machine, I am already taken their college algebra on my own but also need that intro to stats, so far I understand that I do the practice that they have on the pie chart and is there an exam that needs a proctol at the end ? I looked online and everywhere and so far got so good feed back but still confused about it, I am really happy to be a part of this board because before I had no idea how many options I had,
This is a C&P of a post I made on the Instacert forums about how ALEKS works. There is no proctored exam. Once you reach 70% (solid blue after assessments) in your progression bar you can request that ACE add it to the transcript. The transcript you would give your school is from ACE, not ALEKS, and its going to show up as Pass/Fail (with at pass at 70% or above). The real question is if your school will accept the ACE credit.
Over at Degree Forum - there is a long detailed discussion on ALEKS: http://www.degreeforum.net/excelsior-thomas-edison-charter-oak-specific/3261-credit-aleks-corp-mcgraw-hill-online.html
Check to see if your college is on this list: http://www.acenet.edu/programs/ccrs/adult_learners/index.cfm?sort=a Of course, some colleges not on the list may still accept ACE credit recommended courses.
No, you do NOT have to take a proctored test with ALEX. You work on the pie chart, after so many questions an assessment will pop up. If you don't get 70% on the assessment, you go back to the pie chart and keep working until another assessment pops up.When you hit 70% on one of the assessments, you have passed the class. When you hit that 70%, stop the course and submit it to ACE. You mentioned Algebra, did you submit that to ACE? It's the same process for both courses.
